๐ตโ๐ซ Dysautonomia is what happens when the autonomic nervous system โ the one running heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature without conscious input โ stops regulating properly.
๐ It's not a single condition. It's a description of a system malfunctioning, and it rarely arrives on its own. For many chronically unwell women it shows up alongside hypermobile EDS, mast cell activation, mould illness and CIRS, long-COVID, or autoimmune disease. Different labels, the same dysregulated system underneath.
๐ฅผ Part of what makes it so difficult to get a handle on is that the symptoms scatter. Digestion to one specialist, heart rate to another, temperature and blood pressure swings to a third โ and nobody is looking at the network as a whole. Which is exactly where the pattern lives.
๐ณ Root-cause work takes time. In the meantime there are physical strategies that help stabilise a flare โ crossing and tensing the legs at the first sign of lightheadedness, getting horizontal with legs elevated rather than pushing through, increasing sodium and fluids ahead of known triggers.
