The most amazing sunrise after a perfect long weekend!
With cabins fully booked mother nature turned on the sunshine! The wild life performed (cape barren geese, bandicoots, wallabies, penguins, pelicans, whales and more!) and boy, did the stars light up the sky!

Thank you to our wonderful guests for the ripper reviews. With school holidays approaching and whale season peaking, we can’t wait to see what Winter brings.

Its May and you've booked your Phillip Island escape at The Gap Retreat and you never quite know what the weather is going to bring.
Don't let that stop you exploring the Island and its beautiful walking trails.
So, have you explored the walk from Pyramid Rock to Berrys Beach?
Start with the short walk out to Pyramid Rock, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping coastal views. At this time of year, the whales are starting to appear, it’s early in the season, but you might get lucky!
Take the 2.9km coastal track through native bushland to Berrys Beach. The birdlife is abundant, and you’re guaranteed to spot wallabies along the way.
The beautiful Berrys Beach is the final destination and man is it the best, the reds of the headland, the blues of the ocean, the view says it all. The return trip is just as good but if you park a car at both ends you could wander on down to for a well deserved wine and lunch, you've just walked off breakfast after all...😉🥂

Our night time visitors are running wild at the moment! This friendly little guy was so close! You too could experience up close encounters with the Eastern Barred Bandicoot while you're relaxing on your decks or cooking your barbecue at The Gap Retreat, like I was!

We've been a little quiet on the socials … and for a very good reason!
We’ve been incredibly busy behind the scenes at The Gap Retreat, welcoming so many wonderful guests through our doors. From wedding celebrations, Shannons speed series GT festival and much-needed escapes — it’s been a full (and very grateful) month!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has stayed with us recently, supported us, and shared in what makes this place so special.

5 things you may not know about The Gap Retreat...

1. The wildlife are your quiet neighbours. We are surrounded by birds and animals. Everything from Eastern Rosella's to the stunning Wedge tailed Eagle. We have resident Wallabies, wandering Echidna and at night visiting Bandicoots.
2. The star gazing is next level. Surrounded by bushland, away from light pollution, we get amazing star displays on a regular basis.
3. We're closer to everything than you think. In peak summer we are still quiet and secluded when 4 minutes drive away you have the bustling centre of Cowes. We are central to all Phillip Island experiences, beaches, cafes and restaurants.
4. Designed for proper switch off, not just a stay. Sun soaked north facing decks in a quiet bushland setting. Natural light filled rooms with native garden and rural views. Proper quiet, nervous system down shifts.
5. We are consistently eco conscious. From our thoughtful toiletries with compostable packaging to our natural cleaning products. Cabin design for warmth and light, native and indigenous gardens for land regeneration and much more, the environment is always top of our minds.

Meet the team! Well, half of us anyway...husband MIA, camera shy shall we say...

Hi 👋
I'm Savanna and this is my bestie Charlie. I am owner, director, designer, planner, gardener, bookings coordinator....you get the picture. And I love it!
We created The Gap Retreat to be a place of comfort and style in a bushland setting where our guests could make themselves at home. Every element has been created to offer not just a place to stay but a memorable experience. We are long term locals, myself in particular, born and bred, a true Phillip Islander! And with that comes a great knowledge of the area and what it has to offer.
We love to assist our guests to create a true local experience, so ask us, where to go, what to do, where to eat, drink and explore.
