Every now and then, we receive feedback that completely stops us in our tracks 💛

A parent recently sent us this message about two of our incredible team members, Mily and Chloe:

“Mily is just incredible. She is so proactive and a wealth of ideas — and not just ideas that are ‘easy’. She had so many ideas that would benefit my daughter in a positive way to build her independence and get her physically moving, whilst connecting it to things she enjoys. She is wise beyond her years, what a wonderful person she is.”

“Same goes with Chloe — from the very beginning she discussed ideas for future growth, skills to learn and work opportunities for the future. Stuff that really matters, and stuff that as a working mum, I struggle to find the time to look into. Chloe’s ideas and foresight have been amazing and she is such a positive role model.”

And then this part absolutely got us:

“You have made our lives easier and less stressful, and that matters so much.”

THIS is what quality support should feel like.

Not just “care”.
Not just ticking boxes.
But genuinely seeing people, creating opportunities, building confidence, encouraging independence, reducing stress for families, and helping young people move toward meaningful futures.

Mily and Chloe — we are SO proud of you both. The care, initiative, thoughtfulness and heart you bring into your work does not go unnoticed ✨

And while this feedback specifically mentioned Mily and Chloe, we honestly feel this reflects the culture of our entire team. We are incredibly lucky to work alongside support workers who lead with compassion, creativity, advocacy and genuine care every single day. The standard our team sets for supporting families is something we are endlessly proud of.

To the families who trust us to walk alongside you — thank you. Your words mean more than we could ever properly express 💛

Atypical was never meant to be “just another disability service.”

It was built from lived experience, heartbreak, frustration with broken systems, and a belief that people deserve better.

Better than being treated like numbers.
Better than transactional care.
Better than having behaviour managed instead of communication understood.

Behind Atypical is a story of disability, Deaf culture, advocacy, community, complex support needs, connection, burnout, resilience and a vision to create the kind of support people actually deserve.

A place where:
People come first.
Communication matters.
Connection comes before compliance.
And everyone has the right to belong.

This is the story behind Atypical Solutions.
And the reason we do things differently.

Recently at a team meeting, we asked our amazing staff a simple question:

“What makes Atypical special?”

The answers weren’t about programs, funding or service delivery.

They were words like:
Kindness - Warmth - Family - Humour - Connection - Compassion - Creativity - Inclusion - Hope - Community - Safe - Welcoming - Fun - Inspiring - Above and beyond.

What stood out most was this:

Nobody described Atypical as just a “service.”

They described it as a feeling.

A place where people feel safe to be themselves.
Where relationships matter.
Where support is human.
Where community is created through genuine connection.

It reminded us that while we absolutely focus on growth, capacity building and meaningful outcomes, the real magic of Atypical has always been the way people feel when they walk through our gates.

And that matters!

We are so grateful for this journey and our community that walks alongside us!

✨ Creating, Connecting & Building Something Bigger ✨

Lately at Atypical Farm, there’s been so much happening across all corners of our space 💙

Our creativity has been in full swing — from sustainable bottle cap art to tin printing, participants have been turning everyday materials into something meaningful, expressive, and uniquely their own ♻️🎨

But it’s more than just art…
It’s about building confidence, problem solving, patience, and pride in creating something from start to finish 🙌🏼

Out on the farm, there’s just as much excitement 🐴🐓
We’ve been closely monitoring Katie, our miniature pony, as she progresses through her pregnancy — a beautiful opportunity for participants to learn, connect, and be part of something really special 💫

And this week we’ve also installed a brand new chicken playground, giving our flock an enriched space to explore while creating hands-on learning experiences around animal care, responsibility, and engagement 🐔

And we’re so excited to share…
🚧 Our Entrepreneurial Hub has officially arrived! 🚧

This new space is being thoughtfully designed to support our participants to:
✨ Build real-world business skills
✨ Explore their ideas and creativity
✨ Develop independence and confidence
✨ Turn their creations into something purposeful

This is the next step in their journey — and we can’t wait to bring it to life alongside them 💙

At Atypical, we’re not just creating activities…
We’re creating opportunities, connection, and futures 💫
