There’s no shortage of wellness advice online, particularly when it comes to fertility and trying to conceive.

From supplements and diet to exercise and hot and cold therapies, it can be difficult to know what’s actually worth paying attention to.

The most important thing is to focus on evidence-based information and what’s right for you, rather than feeling like you need to follow every new wellness trend.

Does stress affect fertility?

In short, yes—many doctors believe stress can play a role in fertility.

While stress alone doesn’t necessarily cause infertility, ongoing stress may affect hormone regulation, ovulation, libido, sleep, and overall wellbeing, all of which can influence reproductive health.

Trying to conceive can also be an emotionally challenging journey, which is why it’s important to prioritise your mental health alongside your physical health. Managing stress through exercise, quality sleep, mindfulness, counselling, or simply seeking support can be an important part of the process.

If you’re concerned about your fertility, speaking with Dr Luke Larmour can help provide clarity, guidance, and a personalised plan moving forward.

WELCOME to episode 5 of “INSIDE YOUR FERTILITY CONSULT”

So, when should you investigate your fertility?

Some signs it’s worth getting checked include:

– Trying to conceive for 12 months without success (or 6 months if over 35)

– Irregular or absent periods

– Known medical conditions affecting fertility

– Previous reproductive surgery or issues

Early investigation gives you clarity and more options for planning your family.

Things you probably didn’t know about PMOS 👇

1️⃣ PMOS is about more than just your ovaries.

While the condition was previously known as PCOS, we now understand that it can affect many systems throughout the body, including hormones, metabolism, skin health, and fertility.

2️⃣ Symptoms can look different from person to person.

Some women experience irregular periods and acne, while others may notice weight changes, excess hair growth, difficulty conceiving, or very few symptoms at all.

3️⃣ Not everyone with PMOS has difficulty falling pregnant.

Although PMOS can affect ovulation, many women with PMOS conceive naturally. The impact on fertility varies significantly between individuals.

4️⃣ PMOS can affect metabolic health, not just fertility.

PMOS is often associated with insulin resistance and may increase the risk of developing conditions such as type 2 diabetes and other metabolic concerns over time.

5️⃣ Early diagnosis and management can make a big difference.

Understanding your symptoms and seeking support early can help improve long-term health outcomes, manage symptoms more effectively, and support future fertility goals.

If you think you may have PMOS or have questions about your reproductive health, book an appointment with Dr Luke Larmour.
