WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU BREATHE, HOLD & RELEASE? ๐ซโจ
This simple but powerful technique combines activated breathing with a breath hold to create a controlled physiological stressor known as intermittent hypoxia.
๐ฌ๏ธ Double inhale through the nose
๐จ Exhale through the mouth
๐ Repeat for 10โ30 breaths
๐ซ Hold the breath
๐ Release & return to natural breathing
This can create a powerful shift in your state โ influencing the autonomic nervous system and stimulating the release of feel-good neurochemicals including dopamine and endorphins, while creating a heightened sense of awareness and connection.
๐ฅ Youโre not escaping stress โ youโre teaching your body how to experience it, meet it and come back to regulation.
Breathe. Hold. Release. Reset.
Andrew Huberman, Ph.D. Andrew Huberman has shared some super interesting research around the relationship between breath, the nervous system and physiological state.
โ๏ธ Practise breath holds safely. Never practise alone in or near water, while driving, or anywhere fainting could cause harm. Water-based breath-hold practices should only be undertaken with appropriate training, supervision and safety protocols.
