I O D I N E ~ what is the optimal dose?
The essential trace mineral required for the synthesis of Thyroid hormone (Thyroxine T4 and Triiodothyronine T3)
Of which regulate metabolism, energy production and cellular growth.
The body stores a limited amount of Iodine approximately 15- 20 milligrams 70-80% of this is in the Thyroid gland
Although ‘essential’ the body cannot produce it naturally, making dietary intake critical for your health.
DIETARY SOURCES INCLUDE:
🌱 Seafood
🌱 Seaw**d ~ kelp, nori, bladder wrack
🌱 Dairy ~ milk, cheese, yogurt
🌱 Eggs
RECOMMENDED DAILY INTAKE ~ can largely vary at different stages of life and even more so when there are diagnosed Thyroid conditions to consider. Both deficiency and excessive amounts can disrupt thyroid function and tip the pendulum.
For this reason I recommend only food sources of iodine until quality testing can be done to get a clearer picture of the individual needs.
If you are questioning your iodine intake or how you should be supplementing. It is really important that your optimal level is guessed but GUIDED by a qualified professional.
