A new thing I'm running but not actually part of my business 😊

I'm reaching out to all dads, fathers, and father-figures,

Fatherhood doesn't come with a manual. A lot of us were never shown how to talk about the big stuff, the joy, the worry, the exhaustion, the pride that catches you off guard.

So I'm putting together something a bit different.

Starting Monday 7 September, 4:30pm - 5:30pm, and the first Monday of every month after that, I'm opening up a space just for dads.

This will be held at The Crows Gathering, Crows Nest (the big yellow building next to the tennis courts).

This isn't a boys' club, and it's not a night down at the pub. It's a place for blokes to step away from the day-to-day, without the kids, and actually be honest with each other. Each month we'll sit around a topic, a few thought prompts to get the conversation moving, nothing forced, nothing you have to carry home if you don't want to.

Whether you're a brand-new dad, expecting your first, your kids have grown and flown, or they're no longer around, you've got a seat at this table.

Tea and coffee is sorted. Bring a plate to share if you'd like to, but there's zero obligation.

Come as you are. No judgement, no pressure, just a room full of blokes figuring it out together.

Going to the woods is going home. John Muir

And a brand new painting this morning. Painted with watercolours and 'Pale Gold' Schmincke Aqua Bronze for all the fern fronds.
And this is a scan so it doesn't quite capture all the shine.

Thankfully it's a lot cooler here this morning (for now). And I think I've painted such an autumnal picture because it feels very much like that is where we are at.

Leaves dropping everywhere (I know that's the heat), so many plants gone to seed, a change in the colours. Our driveway is full of horse chestnut leaves. The donkeys coats seem to have doubled in thickness in the last week. I swear they only have about 4 weeks between losing winter coats and growing new ones.

I'm a little unsure when I'm going to have another new painting because I've really got to spend the next week just working on the 'samcannonart' place. It's nearly got all my small framed prints on it now. But none of my larger or older prints.
I think maybe it'll have to go live without the older ones as that's going to take me so long. It's all too much really.

I'm going to work so hard though, accompanied by 'The Book Club' podcast which has been so enjoyable to listen to this summer.

Have you discovered any exciting new podcasts? I'd love to hear about them if you have. The one about the 'Salt Path' was fascinating too.
