Scoliosis Awareness Month 💚 | Living With a Curved Spine
June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, and I'm back again to talk about something I live with every single day: severe scoliosis. My spine has an abnormal curve—sometimes visible on the outside, sometimes not, but the challenges are real, daily, hourly even.
It's not just physical. It affects mental health too.
🌀 Chronic pain
💥 Muscle spasms
⚡ Migraines from tension and misalignment
😔 The emotional weight of not standing tall or looking straight
📉 Losing height
🦵 Losing functionality
⚖️ Losing balance
🤯 Wondering what the future holds
Scoliosis impacts confidence, energy, and quality of life. For many of us, it's years of trying to feel comfortable in our own bodies.
But there is support, and there are options. 🌱
This year I want to share more about what's actually in my natural toolkit, because I get asked about this a lot:
🌿 PastTense — my go-to roll-on for tension. Great for the back of the neck and across tight shoulders & lower back when the muscles around my curve start to pull and spasm.
🧊 Ice Blue Rub — helps the muscles around my spine feel looser, especially before stretching or bodywork.
🌳 Frankincense — to support a sense of calm when the pain starts affecting my headspace, not just my body.
🌲 Copaiba — to support my body's natural response to ongoing physical stress.
These don't fix the curve—nothing about that has changed. But they've become part of how I get through the harder days, alongside:
🌱 Movement, massage, and gentle bodywork
🧘 Breathwork, mindset, self-acceptance
🤝 Speaking to a health professional early—especially for kids and teens
If you've noticed uneven shoulders, hips, or pain that doesn't add up—don't wait. Early diagnosis makes a world of difference.
If you're already living with scoliosis: I see you, still. There is strength in your curve, and I'm here for this journey with you. 💚
Always happy to chat about what's helped me, naturally and holistically. 💬
