Today’s Women’s Health Week theme is To Rest.

Rest is not simply about stopping. It gives your body and mind an opportunity to recover from the physical and mental demands of everyday life.

Pain or discomfort can sometimes make it difficult to settle, find a comfortable sleeping position or wake feeling refreshed. If this is happening regularly, our physiotherapists or chiropractors can assess your individual circumstances and discuss options that may help support your movement, comfort and function.

Today’s Women’s Health Week theme, To Move, coincides with World Physiotherapy Day.

The 2026 World Physiotherapy Day focus is cardiovascular disease and stroke, recognising the role of physiotherapy and physical activity in prevention, management and rehabilitation.

Movement does not need to be intense or complicated. What is appropriate will depend on your health, capacity and circumstances. If pain, injury or a health condition is affecting how you move, a physiotherapist can assess your individual needs and discuss suitable options with you.

Women’s Health Week begins with a practical reminder to fuel your body.

Busy days can make it difficult to prioritise regular meals and hydration. This week, consider one small and realistic step, such as preparing lunch ahead of time, adding variety to your plate or keeping water nearby.

Small choices can become part of a sustainable approach to supporting your wellbeing. If you need some help understanding where to start, or how to action, book an appointment with Taneta, our resident nutritionist!

Pregnancy chiropractic isn't only about managing aches and pains.

As pregnancy progresses, our focus also shifts towards movement, maternal positioning and preparing for the physical demands of labour and birth.

We work with mums on pelvic and whole-body mobility, comfortable movement and positioning, and practical strategies they can continue using at home and during labour. We also love getting birth partners involved.

My approach draws on concepts from Optimal Maternal Positioning and Spinning Babies, while remaining individual to each pregnancy, body and birth plan.

Pregnant or preparing for birth?
Pregnancy chiropractic appointments with Dr Taneta Bell are available at Dardanup Health & Wellness Centre.

Does tightness in your calf, shoulder or hip keep returning, even after you’ve stretched or rested it?

Dry needling is one of the techniques our practitioners may use when tight or sensitive muscles are contributing to pain or limiting your movement.

It involves placing fine needles into specific areas of the muscle. Depending on what is causing your symptoms, it may be used alongside hands-on treatment and rehabilitation exercises to help reduce muscle sensitivity and make movement more comfortable.

Dry needling is available with:

• Nelson - physiotherapist
• Matt - chiropractor
• Taneta - chiropractor

It isn’t the right treatment for every person or every type of pain, so your practitioner will assess the area and discuss whether it is suitable for you.

If you have a tight or tender area that keeps bothering you, mention it at your next appointment or book online at www.dardanuphealth.com.au

This week is Birth Trauma Awareness Week, and it's an opportunity to talk about something that affects many families, but the lasting affects often aren’t spoken about.

As a chiropractor, I've been privileged to care for many women during pregnancy and after they've welcomed their babies. As a mum, I also know that birth isn't always the experience we imagined it would be.

Sometimes, a woman will tell me about her birth months later. Sometimes it's years later. Often, it's the first time she's said out loud that she still thinks about what happened, or that she never really felt okay afterwards.

But usually, its a mum who hasn't even announced her next pregnancy, but is already doing everything she can to empower herself and her body, to avoid her previous experience again.

Birth trauma isn't about whether someone else thinks your birth was "bad enough" or whether you and your baby were okay.

It's about how you experienced it.

Two people can go through very similar births and walk away with completely different feelings, and both experiences are valid, and it is okay to have feelings that are less than positive.

It doesn't mean you don't love your baby, or aren't grateful for their existence.

If this post encourages one person to share their story, reach out for support, realise they aren't alone, or their feelings are okay and don't define their motherhood then that's a conversation worth having.

Every birth story deserves to be heard.
