Your tattoo doesn’t stop healing when you leave the studio.
Follow these aftercare tips to help your tattoo heal properly, stay vibrant, and look its best for years to come.
First 3–5 Days
✅ Leave your second skin on for 3–5 days (or as advised by your artist)
This helps protect your fresh tattoo from bacteria, friction, and everyday contaminants while the skin begins to heal.
✅ Wash gently after removing the bandage
Use lukewarm water and a fragrance-free antibacterial soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel—avoid rubbing the area.
✅ Apply a thin layer of aftercare product
Whether it’s a balm, ointment, or lotion recommended by your artist, a little goes a long way. Don’t overdo it.
✅ Avoid soaking the tattoo
No swimming pools, baths, spas, or ocean water for at least 2 weeks. Quick showers are fine.
Days 3–14
✅ Clean the tattoo 2–3 times daily
Be gentle. Let the skin heal naturally and avoid scrubbing.
✅ Keep the tattoo lightly moisturised
Dry skin can crack and irritate the tattoo, but too much product can slow healing.
✅ Wear loose, breathable clothing
Reducing friction helps prevent irritation and supports the healing process.
✅ Sleep on clean sheets
Fresh bedding helps minimise unnecessary bacteria exposure while the tattoo is healing.
✅ Limit direct sun exposure
Once peeling has finished, apply SPF to help protect the tattoo and keep the colours looking fresh.
Avoid These Mistakes
❌ Picking, scratching, or peeling
Flaking and itching are normal. Picking can damage the artwork and affect healing.
❌ Long water exposure
Avoid prolonged showers, swimming, and soaking until the tattoo is fully healed.
❌ Heavy creams or products not recommended by your artist
Stick with the aftercare products recommended for your skin and tattoo.
❌ Dirty environments and unwashed hands
Keep the area clean and avoid unnecessary contact.
❌ Tight or abrasive clothing
Constant rubbing can irritate the skin and slow recovery.
❌ Unprotected sun exposure
Fresh tattoos and sunburn don’t mix.
Every tattoo heals differently, so always follow the specific advice given by your artist.
