🌾 Want to eat more fibre but not sure where to start?

Most Australians don’t eat enough fibre, yet it’s one of the most important nutrients for overall health. Aim for minimum 25g per day.

Increasing your fibre intake can help:
βœ”οΈ Keep you fuller for longer
βœ”οΈ Support healthy digestion and regular bowel movements
βœ”οΈ Feed your beneficial gut bacteria
βœ”οΈ Improve cholesterol and heart health
βœ”οΈ Help stabilise blood sugar levels

The good news? You don’t need to overhaul your diet. Adding just 1-2 high fibre foods to each meal can make a big difference.

Some easy fibre boosters include:
πŸ₯œ A handful of mixed nuts
🫘 ½ cup of beans or lentils
πŸ“ Mixed berries
πŸ₯‘ Half an avocado
🍠 Sweet potato with the skin on
🌱 Chia, flax or LSA sprinkled on yoghurt or oats
🍞 Wholegrain bread

πŸ’‘ Tip: Increase your fibre gradually and remember to drink plenty of water to help your digestive system adjust.

🍌 Pre and post exercise fuelling (carbs) + recovery (carbs & protein) πŸ₯ͺ

Aim for around 0.5-1g of carbs per kg body weight 1 hour before exercise. Post exercise aim for 0.4-0.6g protein per kg body weight and around 0.5g carbs per kg of body weight. Example 75kg person: 37-70g carbs before exercise, 37g carbs + 30-45g protein after exercise πŸ‘

So many people head into a workout under-fuelled or focus only on protein afterwards, but carbohydrates are needed pre AND post workout.

Training without enough fuel can leave you feeling flat, reduce performance, make sessions feel harder than they should, and impact your recovery.

After exercise, protein helps repair muscle, but carbohydrates replenish your energy stores so you’re ready to train, perform and recover well. The two work best together.
