Meet Dr Ahmed Bajhau | Hip & Knee Surgeon 🦴

Dr Ahmed Bajhau has been a trusted Surgeon of the Nautilus Orthopaedics team since 2017, providing specialist care in hip and knee surgery.

Dr Bajhau studied medicine at Flinders University, where he also completed a Master of Surgery, before undertaking his orthopaedic training through the South Australian training program.

In 2010, he completed a Fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, training under world-renowned surgeons with a focus on primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty (joint replacement surgery).

Alongside his private practice at Nautilus Orthopaedics, Dr Bajhau works at Royal Darwin Hospital, specialising in hip and knee arthroplasty as well as general orthopaedic trauma.

He is also the Scientific Secretary of the Australian Orthopaedic Association SA/NT Branch.

👨‍⚕️ Meet Dr Ben Williams – Orthopaedic Surgeon at Nautilus Orthopaedics

Whether you're dealing with a sports injury, arthritis, a fracture, or ongoing joint pain, Dr Ben Williams is passionate about helping Territorians get back to doing what they love.

Dr Williams is highly skilled in advanced arthroscopic ("keyhole") surgery and modern pain management techniques that help support a smoother recovery after surgery.

🌴 After training and working at both Royal Darwin Hospital and Alice Springs Hospital, Dr Williams knew the Northern Territory was where he wanted to build both his career and family life. Today, he proudly calls Darwin home and is committed to caring for patients across the Territory.

💙 Known for his approachable nature, Dr Williams believes great care starts with clear communication. He works closely with patients, their families, GPs and allied health professionals to ensure everyone feels informed and supported throughout their treatment.

✈️ Outside the operating theatre, Dr Williams enjoys staying active as an enthusiastic runner (his words: not particularly fast!) and is also an instrument-rated pilot with a genuine passion for aviation.

Meet our newest member of the team, but by no means new to the territory.

Dr Raj Shetty
Hip, Knee, Shoulder, Sports and Trauma

Dr Shetty is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 20 years of global experience in trauma, arthroplasty, and limb reconstruction. He is a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association and has trained extensively in both India (PGI Chandigarh) and Australia, including AOA-accredited fellowships in trauma, arthroplasty, and limb reconstruction at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Royal Darwin Hospital.

Dr Shetty has worked in the Territory for 14 years and has a strong understanding of the unique challenges specific to the region and its patient population.

Dr Shetty’s areas of special interest include complex trauma and limb reconstruction, primary hip and knee arthroplasty (aiming to provide direct anterior hip arthroplasty in Darwin in the near future), knee and shoulder arthroscopy, sports injuries and general orthopaedics, including acute trauma.

Dr Shetty is committed to providing timely, collaborative, and patient-centred orthopaedic care. He values close collaboration with general practitioners and multidisciplinary teams and recognises their integral role in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
