I recently shot a video where I explore the hara — the energetic centre just below the navel — and explain why it's crucial for anyone serious about Reiki.

More than just a concept in Reiki, the hara has been central to traditions as diverse as Zen Buddhism, Japanese martial arts, calligraphy, Noh theatre, and the Japanese tea ceremony.

For many Reiki practitioners, self-healing can be a little bit hit or miss.

Some days you get a good session in. Other days, you get too caught up in the hurly-burly of everyday life and skip your practice.

But instead of making it all or nothing, a better approach is to do a minute or two on the days you don't have time for anything.

You're probably not going to get into a deep meditation state with this minute or two, but it will keep the momentum going. And that means that the next day, when you do have more time, you'll be able to go deeper, faster.

As Mrs. Takata once famously said: "A little bit of Reiki is better than no Reiki."

So have fun and practice daily, even if only for a micro session. You'd be surprised at the results.
