โœจ A Wonderful Evening Celebrating Business Excellence โœจ
On Thursday evening, Blake, Narelle, and John proudly represented Independence Tasmania at the 2026 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards Finalists Celebration at the James Boag's Brewery Function Centre.

It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate with fellow finalists, connect with other local businesses, and meet our Excellence in Community Service category sponsor, Rio Tinto. A special thank you to Lou and Rochelle from Rio Tinto for such a warm welcome.

We're incredibly grateful to the Launceston Chamber of Commerce for hosting such a wonderful event and look forward to celebrating with all the finalists again at the Gala Dinner in August.

๐Ÿ† We're Finalists! ๐Ÿ†

We are incredibly excited and honoured to announce that Independence Tasmania has been named a Finalist in the Excellence in Community Services Award at the 2026 CareSuper Business Excellence Awards!

This recognition reflects the dedication of our amazing team, who go above and beyond every day to support people to live with independence, choice, dignity, and confidence. It also belongs to our wonderful participants, families, and the local community who trust us to be part of their lives.

At Independence Tasmania, community is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it's supporting someone to achieve their goals, build connections, or to remain independent at home, we are proud to make a positive difference across Northern Tasmania.

A huge thank you to the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, CareSuper, our participants, our families, and every member of the Independence Tasmania team for making this possible.

No matter the outcome, we are incredibly proud to be recognised as a finalist for Excellence in Community Services, and we look forward to celebrating with so many inspiring local businesses.

We look forward to celebrating with so many inspiring local businesses in the coming month.

We couldn't be prouder of Rob! Watching him get out into the community, enjoy the sport he loves, and continue building friendships is exactly what person centred support is all about.

A huge thank you to everyone at Kings Meadows Bowls Club for creating such a welcoming and inclusive environment. It's wonderful to see Rob doing what he enjoys most and being part of such a fantastic community.

Well done, Rob! We can't wait to see what you achieve next. ๐ŸŽ‰

What a wonderful world!๐Ÿ’–

One of our wonderful members gave us a set of bowls that he know longer needed. He said to me if you know someone that needs a set of bowls please let them have mine.

So today in today came our new member Rob who s visually impaired and needed a set of bowls.

Wow all I can say is what a deserving person to have these bowls.

Thank you Vallan Reid. Rob and his carer was so appreciative of your generosity.

๐Ÿงก July is Disability Pride Month ๐Ÿ’™

Disability Pride Month is a time to celebrate the diversity, achievements, and contributions of people with disability. It recognises that disability is a natural part of human diversity and encourages us all to embrace inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity.

At Independence Tasmania, we're proud to support people to live life on their own terms with choice, dignity, independence, and person-centred support that reflects who they are and what matters most to them.

This month, we celebrate the voices, strengths, talents, and experiences of people with disability, while continuing to advocate for a community where everyone feels valued, included, and empowered.

๐Ÿ’š Because everyone deserves the opportunity to live with pride, respect, and belonging.

A new communication board at Launceston's Riverbend Park is making the playground more accessible for people who are deaf, non-speaking, blind or have low vision.

The board uses Auslan, Braille, symbols and words tailored to the parkโ€™s equipment so visitors can communicate and explore in different ways.

Inclusive Spaces founder Codie Baylis said the first Community Chat Board marked an โ€œexciting milestoneโ€ for inclusive play in Launceston.
