Hi everyone,

So we've all hopefully heard that our Tasmanian laws are a little different when it comes to tattoos...
It needs updating (desperately) so we can hopefully have expos down this way.

That section 12 of Tasmania's Guidelines for Tattooing introduced in 1998 under the Public Health Act 1997 prohibits mobile tattooing businesses regardless of their hygiene standards, infection-control procedures, operator qualifications or purpose-built facilities.

A few from the crazy full on month of August!

I feel like i was so busy outside and inside of work, that I didnt have time to realise how much even happened!
New apprentices all signed off, a puppy entered the home, book week even got thrown in there!

She did it. 🖤

After three years of learning, growing, doubting herself, surprising herself and putting in an incredible amount of work, Loren has officially graduated to Full-Time Tattoo Artist at Butterfly Effect Tattoo Art Studio.

And I couldn’t be prouder!!!

I put her through her paces today! An official council sign off and like we all knew, she is more than ready. Her hygiene, artwork, customer skills all speak volumes for themselves. Well done!

Watching her develop hasn’t just been about watching her tattoos improve. It’s been watching Loren build confidence, create a beautiful client base and become the artist people specifically walk through our doors asking for.

Loren has never needed to be the loudest person in the room. Her work, her kindness and the way people feel sitting in her chair have done that for her.

What a beautiful person we are lucky to have in our studio!!!
Loren is always beside her tattoo family for any support. She has been my strength, my shoulder and she gives that support so freely to all clients.

Loren empathises she listens and works with the client to make a beautiful design to help the clients heal, grow or signify what makes them special.
Thank you for always being you.

There’s no more “apprentice” attached to her name.

Love how this turned out! I’m always happy to do exact designs that clients want even if you’ve generated the image yourself but I will always go through it and clean it up/change what needs changing to make sure it is readable on skin. Remember: not all pictures translate well as a tattoo! But it’s my job to make it work for you.

🖤 MEET MEG 🖤
And I suppose if I'm introducing everyone else, I should probably introduce myself too. 😂

I'm Meg — owner, artist and occasional chaos coordinator at Butterfly Effect Tattoo Art Studio.
I love creating tattoos that mean something to the person wearing them — whether that's a portrait carrying someone's story, intricate black and grey, fine detail or the occasional splash of colour or even a cute tiny symbol that marks something significant to the person or people.

But somewhere along the way, tattooing became about much more than the artwork.

I get to create, connect with incredible people and now teach the next generation of artists while giving them the freedom to become completely themselves.

I don't want to create four versions of me.
I want to help create four incredible artists of their own. 🖤

That's me — usually behind the machine, behind the camera, or causing just enough chaos to keep things interesting. Teller of the most amazing mum jokes ... well i try 😂

I'm currently changing my old 'Pawtraits by Meg Dehle' to 'Artworks by Meg Dehle' for those who have stayed on that page, thank you and I can't wait for you to follow more of my art journey🖤

Loren — now into her third year with us. 🥹

Somewhere along the way, Loren stopped feeling like someone simply learning to tattoo and became part of the heart of our studio.

Loren is an incredibly talented artist, but her real magic is Loren herself. She's calm, kind and one of those precious, nourishing souls people simply love being around — the tattoo is a bonus. 😂🖤

I've had the privilege of watching her confidence grow and had the honour of seeing the apprentice quickly become the artist.

There comes a point where you realise you're no longer standing over someone teaching them.
You're standing beside another artist.
And I'm incredibly proud to stand beside this one. 🖤

🖤 MEET TARNYA — LUNAR.THORN 🖤

Tarnya — Lunar.Thorn 🌙🖤

Self-described as “beautifully unhinged” — and really, who are we to argue? 😂

Tarnya is now well into tattooing real skin, building her confidence, technique and portfolio with every client who sits in her chair.

Her work is becoming unmistakably her — alternative, illustrative, a little dark, a little quirky and always with plenty of personality.

Tarnya has found her feet behind the machine and now we're getting to watch Lunar.Thorn find her identity.
We also love her sweet side (especially when she brings in her amazing cooking!)🖤

Wow we are lucky to have you as a part of our team! You push yourself so hard everyday and the hard work is quickly paying off!

🖤 MEET SKYE — RAT.TATZ 🖤
Next up is our wonderful, unique Skye — Rat.Tatz 🐀🖤

Give this girl something dark, gothic, creepy or slightly questionable and she's in her happy place. Skye has an incredible drawing ability and we cant wait to see it as permanent artwork on our clients 🖤

Skye is still early in her apprenticeship, building her foundations on practice skin and now taking those exciting first steps onto real skin.

Her darker style and personality are already starting to shine through, and we're really excited to watch her confidence, technique and Rat.Tatz identity grow.

🖤 MEET CHRIS — CHRIST INK 🖤

Chris came into his apprenticeship with a natural artistic ability and a love for pushing himself into the complicated stuff — apparently starting simple was never going to be his thing. 😂

He's currently taking everything he already knows as an artist and learning how to translate it into tattooing, building his technique through practice skins and now beginning to make that exciting move onto real skin.

From realism and geometry to colour and completely random little dodos, Chris is still exploring where tattooing will take him — and we're excited to watch along the way.

As Loren is heading into her third year of her apprenticeship this week there will be a price adjustment to reflect her incredible work and growing skill set.
