We often are so used to ("conditioned") to feel like we are responsible for everyone and everything - especially as parents the lines are often blurred with looking after everyone's needs and forgetting that we too need time, compassion, rest, nurturing, connection, socialising, fun, laughs and excitement. Just remember that history tells us that children don't remember how clean the house was... they remember how the house felt - was it calm, happy? was it a nice place to return to after school? Was there food in the fridge and what snacks were in the pantry? Its' ok to drop the load of responsibilities, share it around, and it's ok if it's far from perfect. Who said it had to be perfect? Not me!
Let's embrace rest and recharge, to be better versions of ourselves who can show up for our loved ones (and ourselves) without pressure, guilt or over-committing. Let's be calm and present, firstly for ourselves, and let that ripple through to the whole family unit.
You cannot be the blanket to keep everyone warm.
