This probably happens more than you think.

Not every concern needs treatment and not every treatment is appropriate for every person.

As a cosmetic nurse, my role is not just to perform treatments, but to assess suitability, prioritise patient safety, and support balanced, natural-looking outcomes.

Sometimes that means saying no, delaying treatment, or recommending an alternative approach instead.

Reasons I may decline treatment can include:
• unrealistic expectations
• treatment compromising facial balance or harmony
• compromised skin health
• medical contraindications
• recent treatment performed elsewhere
• insufficient healing time between appointments
• concerns around safety or long-term outcomes

Patient safety will always come first, because good aesthetic outcomes should complement not overpower.

At TB, patient safety is and always will be my top priority. I’m passionate about continually upskilling and expanding my knowledge so that every treatment I perform is safe, precise and evidence-based.

This year, I chose to step out of the usual conference setting and complete a cadaver dissection workshop. This was a truly eye opening experience that took my understanding of facial anatomy to a whole new level.
