Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible mums, grandmothers, mother figures and women who spend their days caring for others !

A reminder today that your worth is not measured by how much you do for everyone else, but by the care, love, and strength you bring to those around you. You deserve to nourish yourself, rest, laugh, celebrate, and truly enjoy the moments that matter most.

I hope today is filled with good food, love, family, and appreciation for everything you do — not just today, but every day.

Love,

Today I had the privilege of returning to to present to the Masters in Dietetics cohort on what they can expect after graduation. I loved presenting on this last year and it was an honour to be asked back.

Sessions like this are so important to help bridge the gap between study and the reality of stepping into the profession. When I graduated, I assumed I’d step straight into a role and that my life experience would carry me there quickly. The transition wasn’t quite that simple for myself and many of my peers.

My biggest peice of advice to new graduates is to stay positive and remember why you became a Dietitian. Explore your areas of interest, invest in short courses, and actively build connections with other dietitians, past supervisors, and mentors.

Opportunities don’t always happen immediately — but if you stay consistent and keep putting yourself out there, things do start to fall into place.

Do you eat before you train?
Short answer — you absolutely should and here’s why:

Food is like petrol for your car. It fuels your body so you can perform at your best, supports recovery and lean muscle development, helps you hit new PBs, and improves strength over time.

Eating before training also supports sustainable weight loss by improving performance, balancing energy levels, and helping manage appetite afterwards. Aim for 30–60g of carbs before training.

What does that look like?
• 2 crumpets with jam
• 1 banana + 200ml juice
• 1–2 LCM bars
• Small bowl cereal with milk
• Hot cross bun
• 25g pretzels

Not used to eating before training? Start small and build your gut tolerance over time. Try easy-to-digest options like:
• Apple pouch
• Rice cakes with jam (2–4)
• 1 tsp honey
• 200ml apple juice
• 2–3 medjool dates
• 20g lollies
• ½ banana

Reach out if you would like to learn more.

Looking for easy, convenient meal ideas? 🍽️

This week I worked with a client who needed extra support finding meals that are full of flavour while being lower in saturated fat. The goal: reduce cholesterol and increase veggie intake

So yesterday I spent some time in Woolworths finding simple options that make nourishing your body easier (and realistic!).
Tonight’s dinner was smoked chicken with sliced capsicum and onion!

I had mine with air-fried potatoes, while hubby and the kids enjoyed theirs with rice and corn chips and plenty of veg on the side!

You could also turn this into wraps for an easy midweek meal!

You could marinate the chicken yourself, but this option only needed to be cooked :)

As we step into a new year, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on just how much has been achieved. This year wasn’t about perfection — it was about showing up, staying consistent, and continuing to prioritise your health even when life felt busy, challenging, or unpredictable. Progress showed up in many ways: strength gains, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of how to nourish your body.

As we move into 2026, remember that health isn’t about restriction, extremes, or starting over — it’s about consistency, not perfection. It’s about enjoying food without guilt, fuelling your body with balanced meals, and moving or exercising in ways that feel good rather than punishing. And if you’re curious about learning more about your body, how it responds to training and nutrition, or how to support it better moving forward, I’m always happy to chat in the new year.

Thank you for trusting me with your training and nutrition this year. I’m so grateful to be part of your journey and excited to continue supporting you in the year ahead

🎄✨ Merry Christmas to all my Fit By Cat PTs, Group Fit members, and Dietitian clients ✨🎄

I’m so proud of the work you’ve put in this year — showing up, staying consistent, and making changes even when life was busy, messy, or hard. Progress isn’t just about numbers; it’s about habits, strength, confidence, and learning to look after yourself, and you’ve all done that in your own way.

Over Christmas, enjoy the food and the time with the people around you — and don’t overthink it. No guilt and no ‘making up for it.’ Keep things simple by structuring most meals around carbs, protein, fibre and fats, and let the rest just be part of the celebration. One meal or one day doesn’t undo a year of effort.

Thank you for trusting me with your training and nutrition this year. Enjoy the break, eat well, move when it feels good, and I’ll see you in the new year!

🎄 Happy Christmas Eve! 🎄

With so much talk about food — and the guilt that can creep in around eating and indulging this time of year — I wanted to share a few simple reminders to help you enjoy the holidays rather than stress about them.

Christmas is about connection, celebration, and memories. Food is part of that — not something to feel bad about.

1. Don’t skip meals
Keep eating regular meals during the day. Skipping meals often leads to feeling overly hungry later and makes it harder to enjoy food.

2. Enjoy your favourite foods — guilt free
It’s Christmas. Enjoy the foods you love without overthinking it. Food is more than fuel — it’s part of the experience.

3. Build nourishing meals (for most meals)
Aim for a mix of carbs (for energy), protein (for strength and fullness), fibre-rich veggies, and healthy fats. Remember we are not looking at the perfect meal, but rather a balance of nutrients to support your body.

4. Move and hydrate because it feels good
Go for a walk, swim, or do your usual workout if it feels right. Movement isn’t a trade-off for food — it’s for health and enjoyment, not punishment. One-two days off from training won't harm your progress. It will allow rest and recovery. Keep the water intake up

And most importantly — enjoy this time with the people you love. One meal, one day, or even one week won’t undo the consistency you’ve built with your health

💛 R U OK? Day 💛

Today is a reminder that mental health and physical health are deeply connected. Nourishing your body with balanced food, staying active in ways you enjoy, and taking time to rest all play a huge role in supporting your mood and overall well-being.

But remember—you don’t need to wait for R U OK? Day to check in. Any day is a good day to ask a friend, loved one, or even yourself: “Am I really OK?”

If you ever feel like chatting about your nutrition, movement, or simply how you’re going—I’m here for you. Let’s keep making health and well-being a priority together.
