😂 A Night Full of Laughs!

Mark, Mandy and Adam headed out to Dubbo for a comedy night and enjoyed an evening packed with laughs and great entertainment. 🎭✨

The trio attended the Central West Comedy show, featuring comedians Troy Kinne and Akmal, and had a fantastic time soaking up the atmosphere and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

We love seeing participants getting together outside of their regular supports, building friendships, sharing experiences, and making memories along the way. Opportunities to get out and about, enjoy a good laugh, and spend time with great company are what it's all about. 💜

👀 What's Happening at ECSS?

If you've been to Empowered Choices lately, you might have noticed things looking a little different... 🚧

There's been plenty of digging, raking, lifting, and planning happening behind the scenes as participants and support workers work together to bring our backyard dreams to life 🌱

We've been rolling up our sleeves and getting stuck into a project that's been on our wish list for a while. There have been plenty of busy hands, great teamwork, and lots of excitement as plans start to come together.

Let's just say our backyard has some exciting changes on the way 🏡✨

There's still plenty to do, but we're already enjoying seeing the vision start to take shape.

Advocacy Isn't Just for Big Decisions 🤝💜

When people think about advocacy, they often picture formal meetings or important conversations.

But some of the most meaningful advocacy happens in everyday life, through the small actions that help people feel respected, included, and in control of their own decisions.

Sometimes it's speaking up. Sometimes it's listening. Sometimes it's simply making sure a person's choices, preferences, and goals remain at the centre of decisions that affect them.

Advocacy looks different for everyone, but the goal remains the same: supporting people to have their voice heard and their choices respected.

The most powerful advocacy often happens in the moments others don't see 💜✨

Empowered Choices Support Services Mini-Roos & Junior Development Program

2025 saw the introduction of the Mini-Roos and Junior Development Program. The program was set up to provide players with an additional training session each week and to upskill our coaches.

In 2026 the initiative continued with the support from Empowered Choices Support Services, senior coaches Pat Auld and Josh Williams, along with some of our WPL players.

This year was particularly difficult due to wet weather and field closures. Despite this, the team continued to support the development of our players with quality sessions and mentorship.

At the recent Gala Day, our participants received a certificate recognising their efforts and completion of the Development Program.

Everyone should be proud of their achievements this year and we look forward to being back in 2027.

🍽️ Building Confidence in the Kitchen!

Kelly and Dane were ready to hit the ground running before their support worker even arrived, with everything organised and prepared to get started on dinner 👏

Together, they worked on their cooking skills by preparing a delicious shepherd's pie and veggies, taking part in each step of the process from preparation through to serving the meal.

It was fantastic to see the initiative, organisation, and teamwork they showed throughout the activity. Building everyday living skills is about more than just cooking. It's about growing confidence, independence, and taking pride in what can be achieved 💜

The group enjoyed a fun find-a-word challenge today! 🔍

Everyone worked hard to spot the hidden words, with a little friendly competition to see who could finish first. Once the puzzles were complete, participants created their own find-a-words and shared them with each other to test their friends.

A simple activity that brought plenty of laughter, creativity, and teamwork to the day 😊

The good news? You won't be expected to navigate these changes alone. Your support team, providers, and the NDIA all have a role to play in helping you understand what applies to your individual circumstances.

She has a knack for making processes run smoothly, often behind the scenes and without ever seeking the accolades she deserves.

🎳 Strike! 🎳

Aurora, Dougie and Jared have been showing off their bowling skills at iPlay Tenpin City Dubbo during their group support outings!

From strikes to spares and plenty of laughs along the way, ten pin bowling is always a favourite activity. It's a great opportunity to build confidence, enjoy time with friends, stay active and have fun in the community.

Looks like we've got some bowling champions on our hands! 🏆🎳💜
