Mitchell's had a busy couple of days enjoying respite with YIRRA!

From heading out to pick up supplies for the veggie patch we're creating at the YIRRA House, to a night under the stars at Dubbo Observatory and putting his problem-solving skills to the test at the Escape Room!

He was pretty excited to get his hands on the Dubbo Monopoly game for some chill-out time.

A strong team makes a difference!!

It’s been another busy week at YIRRA, and we’re proud of the way our team continues to show up for the people we support.

Our Support Team has stepped up when it mattered — responding to medical emergencies, supporting participants after release and helping people settle safely back into the community.

Alongside this, our workers have been supporting people to get out into the community, enjoy activities they choose, attend appointments and build confidence with everyday tasks. Having a yarn, trying something new and feeling connected are all meaningful parts of support.

Our Support Coordinators have been advocating strongly for better outcomes, and we’ve had some meaningful wins. Seeing participants with complex needs begin engaging in therapies, building trust and telling us they’re starting to feel better in themselves means a lot.

There’s plenty to value in the everyday moments too — people making their own choices, building skills, reconnecting with others and feeling comfortable enough to ask for support.

We don’t take those moments for granted. Progress looks different for everyone, and we’re grateful to walk alongside our people at their pace.

A strong team, steady support and people who care. That’s what we’re proud of at YIRRA.

Mitchell’s been keeping busy on his holidays with us!

Between tenpin bowling, golf, skatepark, shopping and cleaning cars, he’s had plenty happening! He’s also been making time to relax, grab some lunch with his support team and share a few good stories!

YIRRA has capacity for new participants across regional and remote NSW.

We’re welcoming enquiries for Support Coordination, Support Work and Respite.

Our First Nations Support Coordination team brings cultural knowledge, lived experience and strong community connections to their work. They understand the communities they support and take the time to build trust.

Our Support Workers help people with daily living, building skills and getting out into the community. We also offer respite shaped around each person’s needs and choices.

This fella is always up for a yarn!

Mitchell started his supports today by giving our office girls a few golf pointers. Then he finished the day with an ice cream downtown and a visit to the skate park.

Mitchell always chooses how he wants to spend his day, and we were happy to go along for the ride.

The sibling bowling competition finally happened today!

Chloe, Lane and Emma have been talking about having support together and holding a family competition for a while. Today, they brought their competitive sides to Ten Pin Bowling.

Lane was crowned the bowling champ, winning two out of three games, while Chloe took out the other one. They all had such a great time competing against each other.

We love our supports with these three, and it was so nice to have them all together today.
