Western NSW PHN

Western NSW PHN WNSW PHN works to ensure our community receives the right care in the right place at the right time It’s a story of living off the land.

Western NSW Primary Health Network works to provide local communities with better access to improved health services. We work closely with General Practice, other health care providers, Local Health Districts, hospitals and the broader community to ensure services meet the health needs of the region. Our area covers both Far West and Western NSW Local Health Districts. The WNSW PHN’s Aboriginal mo

tif was created by Wiradjuri artist Lewis Burns. A strong flowing river provides fresh, clean water for those living beside it in camps. At campfires, people cook from the earth, with abundant natural foods they’ve hunted and gathered. As a community, people respect the earth and their country, united in a healthy lifestyle.

WNSW PHN was pleased to welcome over 100 attendees to the Parkes Dying to Know Day last month.

The day highlighted strong community engagement in end-of-life planning and care. Attendees heard about a range of topics including advance care planning, palliative care, carer supports, legal considerations, and wellbeing approaches.

The event was delivered in partnership with Western NSW Local Health District, End of life Doulas - Preparing the Way, Carer Gateway, and WNSW PHN, demonstrating the value of collaboration in supporting community awareness and confidence.

Thank you to North Parkes Mines (Evolution Mining) and Parkes Services Club for their generous support, as well as our MC, Joy Paddison, and the range of speakers who shared practical insights and local service information.

Today marks the start of National Reconciliation Week. NRW takes place every year between May 27 and June 3 and this year’s theme is ‘All In’.

This year's theme reminds us that reconciliation is not a spectator sport; real progress requires action, learning and accountability from all of us. Advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights is not a passive activity, and it is not the responsibility of First Nations people alone, who have carried the burden of advocacy for too long.

WNSW PHN is currently on our own reconciliation journey as an organisation. The WNSW PHN Innovate RAP recognises the past, strengthens the present and shapes a shared future.

You can read more about WNSW PHN’s Innovate RAP at https://wnswphn.org.au/about-us/reconciliation/
