At the opening night for the Jenny Burt Award 🧡 It was so lovely and surprising to be amongst so many talented artists for this award.

The exhibition of all 20 finalists works runs until June 26th. Make sure you head over and take a look 👀 🐍💋

My exhibit “Feather & Fang”
Oil on wood panels in antique frames & oil on antique brass scales.
Plus lots of oddity jars filled with living and unalived natural materials and critters for the audience to shift the balance ⚖️

Naming the pattern is powerful.

But naming the pattern is not the same as changing your relationship to it.

At some point, the question becomes:

“What does this understanding ask of me now?”

How beautiful life is when we meet people who deeply resonate with the same symbols, archetypes or energies that we ourselves do.

This is the beginning of a unique tattoo for Jess who shares a connection to the triskelion and energy of Newgrange.

This symbol has haunted my life in a profound way and the week we consulted about this design was the same week I’d been playing around with this symbol for my own body to be marked with.

Newgrange in Ireland is the first place I truly felt home. One of those moments where you could almost cry for something that you’d found while not even realising how much your soul was missing it.

The triad runs deep in our veins and I am constantly diving deeper into the old symbols that speak so loudly to our inner worlds.

If there is a particular symbol or time period that speaks to you, I’d love to hear about it. I literally live for this stuff 🧡

For those who aren’t familiar with the stones and Newgrange, here are some pictures of the kerbstones from the Neolithic structure dating to over 5000 years in Ireland 🇮🇪

Therapy language gave a lot of people permission to stop abandoning themselves.

Good.

But sometimes we take a good tool and start using it for everything.

Boundaries matter. Discernment matters too.

Closure is one of those words that sounds clean.

But real closure is often messy as hell.

Sometimes you do not get the apology.

Sometimes you do not get the explanation.

Sometimes you do not get the version of them who is finally ready to understand what they did.

And that hurts.

But at some point, healing asks a brutal question:

How long am I going to keep making my peace dependent on their capacity?
