Just a reminder that a food being higher in protein doesn’t make it ‘healthier’ or always the better choice🙂‍↔️

Every day there seems to be a new ‘high protein’ product popping up in supermarkets… and yes absolutely higher protein alternatives have their place and may be very helpful in some situations:

✅helping increase the protein content of meals/snacks
✅potentially make a meal/food more filling and satiating
✅help you reach your overall protein needs for performance, muscle building + recovery, especially if you follow a plant based diet!

However, not all are equal and actually contain that much more protein (often at a much higher cost🙈).

And you CAN also just focus on getting your protein needs met through other protein rich foods, and stick to the regular version…especially for athletes who also need to make sure you’re getting enough carbs to support your training volume too👏🏼⛽️

Do you use/buy many ‘high protein’ alternative products?

Just because it’s uncomfortable, doesn’t mean it’s bad❤️‍🔥 something I have to remind myself of all the time as well.

In a world where we are constantly surrounded by messages that lean = fit and healthy and better, it can be hard to not feel like we would be better off losing weight…

And yeah being leaner may mean in the moment, you feel more comfortable with your body.

BUT, health and performance don’t come from your body fat percentage and leanness, or what you look like.

And when achieving a certain level of leanness means you actually become a lot LESS healthy:
Energy levels are low all the time
Hormones production is suppressed
You’re always anxious and mood is all over the place
You feel cold all the time
You’re always injured and fatigued
You’re not making progress in training
Sleep and recovery are awful
Food thoughts consume your brain

It’s not worth it, and despite what that little voice in our heads may say: it won’t make you happier when it comes as the expense of all of these things 🫶🏼

And the discomfort will pass. Keep focusing on the GOOD!

You can live a full life on an empty tank 🦋
