Recently at Tech Together, one of our clients decided to transfer his computer components into a large, old-school full sized tower case - the 2000's doesn't feel all that long ago!

This was a big achievement. He's generally quite cautious when it comes to working with valuable electronics, especially his own computer, out of concern that something might get damaged.

Despite these hesitations, they showed fantastic perseverance, patience and motivation as they worked through the process of rebuilding his PC. With some guidance and support, he tackled the challenges that came up along the way and saw the project through to completion.

We were incredibly impressed by there willingness to step outside there comfort zone, problem-solving and taking on a project that initially felt a little daunting.

Also, a huge shout-out to Joe from Bendigo E Waste, who generously donated the computer case that made this project possible! We're grateful for Joe's ongoing support and the opportunities these donated components and equipment create for our participants.

Term 3 has been super busy at Tech Together!

Check out some of the adventures we have been on:

- Finding new friends to game with
- Trying new games and stepping outside our comfort zones
- Creative Lego and Lego Technic builds - even using motors, gears and remote controls.
- Working as a team to work on a large 2000's Star Wars X-wing (still in progress)
- Disassembling and building computers
- Testing hard drives and developing troubleshooting skills
- Designing Geometry Dash levels for our friends to test
- Designing, developing and creating Minecraft servers

We're excited to announce that bookings are now open for our upcoming Gaming PC Building Workshop at Tech Together!

This is a hands-on program for young people aged 9–17 who are interested in gaming, computers and technology — no previous PC-building experience required.

This is a 6hr Workshop over two 3-hour sessions.
- Session 1 (Introduction) dates: 22/9/26 or 23/9/26 12:00-3:00pm
- Session 2 (Build/Test) dates: 29/9/26 or 30/9/26 12:00-3:00pm

Total cost for 2 sessions: $339 (2 x $169.5)

The school holidays are approaching!

Tech Together will be running our regular school term sessions throughout the holidays.

For those interested in participating in our Gaming PC workshop, please complete our expression of interest form below.

We have had a few queries about the process of workshop, what it entails and how to go about purchasing a gaming pc.

Our workshop will be structured over 2 three-hour sessions in the following way:

1. Introduction and knowledge quiz (to capture prior knowledge)
2. Learn and practice the PC building process
3. Snack break (we will provide small snacks but participants are welcome to bring their own)
4. Learn and practice the PC building process
5. Social gaming activities

Purchasing a gaming PC is optional, and configurations can be organised prior to the workshop. This will allow parents/carers to decide on a budget, and we can organise to have components ready for a participant.

Meet Ryan — our newest Tech Together volunteer!

We’re excited to welcome Ryan to the Tech Together team!

Ryan has a love of gaming, all things Dragon Ball Z, tinkering with technology and building PCs.

He’s already hit the ground running, getting hands-on with computer hardware while learning and practising his PC building, testing and troubleshooting skills.

Ryan will also be part of our new Tech Together PC & Tech Repair Hub, where we'll be giving computers and other technology a second life through testing, repair, refurbishment and reuse.

The Hub will also create more opportunities for our participants and volunteers to get hands-on with real technology, develop practical skills, troubleshoot problems and learn how things work.

🖥️🎮 NEW — BUILD YOUR OWN GAMING PC WORKSHOP!

We’re excited to introduce a new hands-on social group program at Tech Together for young people interested in computers, gaming and technology.

Across two 3-hour workshops , participants will get hands-on with real PC hardware and work through the process of building a gaming computer from start to finish.

⚙️ Set up, test & troubleshoot
🎮 Game, connect and develop social skills
⬆️ Return for future upgrade workshops

No previous PC-building experience is needed. Participants will be supported throughout the process in a small group environment, with one mentor for every two participants.

Participants will also have the option to purchase the gaming PC they build, using a combination of quality-tested refurbished and new components.

Purchasing a PC is completely optional and separate from the workshop fee.

And it doesn't stop there! Future school holiday and weekend workshops will give participants opportunities to return, upgrade their PCs and continue developing their skills.

Meet Beau!

Although Beau has been part of the Tech Together team for a few months now, we thought it was time to properly introduce him.

Beau has a strong interest in computers and technology, along with an Associate Degree in Information Technology. Since joining us, he's been helping to create a welcoming environment where participants can enjoy gaming, explore technology and build confidence at their own pace.

One of the things we're most excited about is Beau's involvement in our growing tech repair workshop. Together, we're beginning to refurbish computers, repair electronics and develop hands-on projects that give participants opportunities to learn practical skills in a supportive environment.

"Hi, I'm Beau, an enthusiastic nerd who loves all things tech and gaming! Since I was a kid I'd pull apart keyboards, laptops, computers - whatever I could get my hands on, you name it. I love tinkering, while also solving fun and challenging problems. Being able to pass on this unusual knowledge has made for some super fun activities while keeping the curiosity factor high :)"
