I come from a background of extreme hypermobility. I could do the splits, walk through my hands, bend backwards and grab my feet.
I remember a doctor telling me I’d have to be very careful with future pregnancies, especially because I also had scoliosis.
Thankfully I had a few years of Functional Patterns training before getting pregnant.
By the time I was pregnant, my body had learned how to organise real structural tension instead of hanging on passive mobility.
I was training the day before I gave birth, still maintaining good posture and core tension. I was even sprinting up until about 7 months.
Honestly, I was shocked at how well my body handled pregnancy.
If you’re thinking about having a baby one day, currently pregnant, postpartum, or honestly just a woman in general — learning how to build correct, balanced tension through the body is a game changer.
It completely changes how your body holds up.
