The Australian Resuscitation Council proudly celebrates Professor Judith Finn’s induction as an ILCOR Giant overnight in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The ILCOR Giant award is the highest global recognition in resuscitation, recognising Judith's extraordinary contributions to resuscitation science and prehospital emergency care over more than 30 years.

Professor Finn has shaped international guidelines, mentored future leaders, and driven innovation through landmark trials and collaborations. With over 280 publications, $30M+ in research funding, and a legacy of leadership within ILCOR and beyond, her impact is profound and enduring.

Congratulations to Professor Finn and her fellow honourees, Dianne Atkins, Robert “Tino” Greif, Rudy Koster, and Robert Neumar, on this prestigious recognition.

AEDs need to be monitored regularly and maintained.

You will need to check the battery and replace the pads when they expire – usually, pads and batteries can last between 2 to 5 years.

If the defibrillator has been used, you will need to replace the pads.

Check the user manual of your AED for the exact specifications .

An AED is a safe and simple-to-use device, used to restart the heart during cardiac arrest. They are lifesaving devices, and you can’t accidentally shock someone.
