Calories tell us how much energy food provides, but they don’t tell us much about the nutrients that actually support how your body functions - like vitamins, minerals, fibre, protein, and healthy fats.

Two foods can contain the same calories, yet have completely different effects on your energy, digestion, hormones, mood, and overall wellbeing.

A lower-calorie diet made up mostly of ultra-processed foods may still “fit the numbers,” but often leaves people feeling tired, hungry, and undernourished over time.
When the body isn’t getting enough nourishment, it tends to compensate:
🟠 cravings increase
🟠 energy levels drop and metabolism slows
🟠 hunger signals become harder to read
🟠 relationships with food can become obsessive

This is rarely about lack of self-control; it’s often the body responding to a lack of nutrient support.

A more helpful shift is moving from:
“How little can I eat?” to “How can I nourish my body so it feels energised and supported?”

Nutrient-dense foods help support:
💚 steady energy
💚 blood sugar balance
💚 satiety and recovery
💚 gut and hormonal health
💚 overall mood
💚 long-term metabolic wellbeing

When meals are built around nourishment, things tend to feel easier; energy feels more stable, cravings soften, and food becomes something that supports your day rather than something you’re constantly managing.
Calories are one piece of the picture, but nourishment is what helps you feel good in your body.
Fuel yourself well. Eat to nourish your body. 💚

A lot of people are trying so hard to “be good” with food that they forget the goal should be to build habits you can maintain.
You do not need to fear carbs. You do not need to punish yourself after eating. And you definitely do not need to be perfect.

Healthy eating should support your life, not consume it.
Nutrition isn’t about strict rules, it’s about fuelling your body and forming a better lifestyle that will continue to work for you long-term.

Swipe through and save this for the days your brain starts spiralling around food again 💚

A few years ago I thought “healthy eating” had to mean being super organised, cooking separate meals, or meal prepping perfectly all the time.

Now my main goal is honestly just reducing the mental load.
The easier food feels during busy weeks, the more consistent we are as a family.

A few things that really help me:
- planning dinners ahead of time
- cooking extra on purpose
- keeping my own breakfasts/snacks high in protein and easy to eat on-the-go
- bulk prepping and freezing homemade lunchbox snacks for my son
- online grocery shopping instead of wandering Woolies with kids 😅

I am definitely not perfectly organised all of the time, but these things really help make healthy eating feel much more realistic and manageable.

Most people don’t need a stricter plan - they usually just need fewer last-minute food decisions.

My new office decor 🥹💚

I started putting some of my son’s drawings up near my desk so I could look at them while I worked… and now the wall is slowly disappearing under artwork 😅

Trying to balance work and motherhood is a constant juggle - and motherhood wins out, almost every time.

Life and business feel a lot fuller these days, and I definitely don’t move at the same speed I used to, but that’s okay.

It makes my heart so happy sitting here working now with a little reminder of my babies in front of me, while I juggle work, motherhood, clients, life admin and everything else in between.

I'm still here guys, just quiet and busy 😂

Well… that was a bit of a pause 😅

Life’s been a bit of a whirlwind lately (newborn + toddler chaos), but I’m slowly finding my feet again.

Easing back into things over here… not full capacity yet, but getting there. Progress over perfection, right? 😅

If there’s anything you want me to cover or chat about (nutrition, fat loss, real life routines etc), feel free to comment or DM me - it actually helps me ease back in without overthinking what to post!

Appreciate you all 🥰💚

Postpartum recovery is a nutritionally demanding time.

After birth, hormone levels shift rapidly as oestrogen and progesterone drop and prolactin rises to support milk production. At the same time, the body is repairing tissue, replenishing blood volume, and adjusting to the energy demands of caring for a newborn.

Energy needs can remain elevated, iron stores may still be recovering, blood sugar can fluctuate more easily, and eating regularly isn’t always simple when your attention is focused on a new baby.

Simple, nourishing foods can help bridge that gap. These postpartum nourish balls provide steady energy and supportive nutrients in a quick, easy snack. The ingredients here all play a role in supporting the postpartum process:

• Rolled oats – slow-release carbohydrates for sustained energy, plus fibre and iron.
• Nut butter – healthy fats and protein to support satiety and stabilise blood sugar.
• Dates – natural sweetness with fibre, potassium and a source of quick energy.
• Chia seeds – fibre, omega-3 fats and minerals like calcium and magnesium.
• Ground flaxseed – additional omega-3s and fibre to support digestion and nutritional balance.
• Desiccated coconut – healthy fats that make the snack more satisfying and energy-dense.
• Maple syrup – light sweetness and a small energy boost.
• Collagen or protein powder (optional) – increases protein to support tissue repair and recovery.

These balls have been a saviour for myself the last couple of months - I make them in bulk when I have some free time, then they sit in the fridge for a grab-and-go snack that I can eat one-handed while holding my baby!

With a newborn and a toddler, cooking fresh lunch every day just isn’t realistic for me.
So a little forward planning goes a long way.

This batch is designed to:
• keep me fed across the week
• support energy levels while breastfeeding
• require very little prep or decision-making

I chose a plant-based protein this time, but you can easily swap in chicken if that suits you better.
And I skip the noodle flavour sachets — they’re high in sodium and additives, and the tamari, sesame oil + honey give plenty of flavour on their own.

This is what nourishment looks like for me right now:
simple, flexible, and supportive of the season I’m in.

I didn’t plan to film this.

I was just making lunch while feeding my baby and realised how clearly it reflects what I believe about nourishment — that it should fit into real life, not require stepping away from it.

Nourishment doesn’t need ideal conditions. It needs enough food, some consistency where possible, and the ability to adapt as life changes.
Early postpartum is no exception.

This is care, as it looks right now — practical, imperfect, and still meaningful.

A little life update 💜
Our daughter Violet has arrived, and we’re settling into this new season as a family.
I’ll be a little quieter here for a short while as I soak up this time.
Nourish & Move isn’t going anywhere — I’ll be back sharing when it feels right. ✨
