πŸŒΏβ˜€οΈ Hello Spring! A season of new possibilities.

Spring is finally here, bringing warmer days, fresh opportunities and more reasons to get out and enjoy your community.

It's the perfect time to try something new, reconnect with friends, meet new people and create memories that make you smile.

At Mix It Up, we know that confidence often grows from the little thingsβ€”a conversation, a shared laugh, a new experience or simply feeling like you belong.

Whether you're working towards greater independence, building new friendships or looking for ways to get more involved in your community, every small step can lead to something amazing.

Here's to a season filled with connection, new experiences and opportunities to live life your way. πŸ’™

⭐ Professional Feedback

We love receiving feedback that highlights the positive impact of quality, person-centred support.

Recently, external professionals working alongside one of our participants praised the Mix It Up team's reporting and support. They noted that staff reports provided valuable insight into the participant's history and current presentation, helping to build a clearer understanding of their support needs.

The team was recognised for delivering concise, relevant, evidence-based reporting that was consistently completed on time. Feedback also acknowledged the team's professionalism, collaboration, and commitment during a particularly challenging period of support.

We're incredibly proud of our team and grateful for the dedication they show every day in helping participants live life their way. πŸ’œ

🌈 Heading to the Royal Adelaide Show soon? Here are a few sensory-friendly tips to help you make the most of your visit.

The Royal Adelaide Show is an exciting experience, but it can also be busy, noisy and overwhelming for some people. A little planning can help create a more enjoyable day.

πŸ’™ Top tips for a sensory-friendly visit:
🀫 Visit during Quiet Hours – Selected carnival sessions reduce loud music and flashing lights to create a more sensory-friendly environment.
🧩 Know where to take a break – The SACARE Carers Lounge in the Vili's Dog Pavilion offers a quiet retreat, an interactive sensory room and an Adult Change Facility.
πŸ‘ Find calmer spaces – The livestock pavilions are often a quieter place to take a break while enjoying the animals.
πŸ’¬ Use available supports – Autism SA Communication Boards are located throughout the Showgrounds to assist with communication and navigation.
πŸ’§ Stay comfortable – Bring a water bottle, make use of the free refill stations, and don't forget to schedule regular rest breaks throughout the day.

Every person's experience is different, so plan a day that works for you or the person you're supporting. Taking breaks, allowing extra time and knowing where support is available can make all the difference.

We hope everyone visiting this year's Royal Adelaide Show has a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience! 🎑

What better way to describe Mix It Up than through the words of one of our participants? πŸ’œ

This beautiful poem was written by one of our participants, capturing what Mix It Up means to them in their own words.

At Mix It Up, we're all about creating opportunities for connection, friendship, fun and support. Seeing participants build confidence, build relationships and create lasting memories is exactly why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to our talented participant for sharing their creativity with us. We absolutely love it! ✨

"They will support you every way, making memories every day."

😊 Volunteering isn't just about helping others. It's a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and strengthen your connection to your local community.

Many volunteers say the friendships, experiences and sense of purpose they gain are just as rewarding as the support they provide.

πŸ’™ Why is it important to celebrate successβ€”even the small wins?

Success doesn't always look like a big achievement.

Sometimes success is trying something new, introducing yourself to someone, learning a new skill or simply taking a step outside your comfort zone.

Small wins help build confidence, create momentum and remind us how far we've come. They can lead to greater independence, stronger connections and new opportunities over time.

It's easy to focus on what's next, but taking a moment to recognise progress can be just as important as reaching the goal itself.

At Mix It Up, we love celebrating the everyday achievements that help participants grow, connect and thrive.

Because every step forward is worth recognising. πŸ’™
