🦴 Introducing The Bone Lab 🦴

Our 9-week Bone Lab program provides the education, support, and guidance you need to exercise safely and effectively for better bone health.

Exercise is one of the most important components of osteoporosis management, yet it is often overlooked. The right type of exercise can help with bone strength, improve balance, build muscle, and reduce the risk of falls and fractures.

We believe that everyone with osteoporosis or low bone density should have at least an assessment with an Exercise Physiologist to ensure they are meeting current exercise recommendations safely and effectively.

The Bone Lab Program includes:

✅ One-on-one initial assessment
✅ Bone health education seminar
✅ Weekly supervised exercise sessions
✅ Individualised exercise guidance
✅ Ongoing support and progression throughout the program

Whether you've recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis, have osteopenia, or simply want to take a proactive approach to your bone health, we're here to help.

The new intake of The Bone Lab is coming soon!

The Bone Lab is a 9-Week Exercise & Education Program designed for people with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or concerns about bone health. This program combines supervised strength and impact training with education on nutrition, falls prevention, and lifestyle factors that support healthy bones and active ageing.

So what's included?

🦴 An education seminar with guest speakers talking about nutrition, exercise, and other management/prevention strategies.

🦴 A one-on-one initial assessment with one of our exercise physiologists. Here, we will get to know you and your goals and create you an individualised exercise program.

🦴 Weekly group exercise groups run by our Accredited Exercise Physiologists, providing you with guidance around how to progress your exercise program safely and effectively.

We are currently mid-intake at the moment, and we are taking expressions of interest for our next intake!

The date is yet to be confirmed, but we are hoping to get our initial assessments done in July/August, with the 9 week program starting in August/September!

I’m really happy to see strength training finally getting the attention it deserves.

But when people ask, “what is better: strength or cardio?”

It’s a bit like asking, “what’s better, the egg or the banana?” 🥚🍌

Both are good! They just offer different things.

There is some crossover in benefits between the two types of training, but they also each have their own unique benefits and play different roles in supporting our health and wellbeing.

Strength training focuses more on building muscle, bone strength, posture, balance, and functional capacity.

Cardio exercise supports heart and lung health, improves endurance, boosts energy, and can help with stress and mood regulation.

The important thing to remember is: it’s not about choosing one over the other — it’s about including both in a way that suits your body and your goals.
And just like your needs in life change over time, your training focus can shift too.

If you’re unsure where to start, an exercise physiologist can help you build a plan that’s safe, effective, and tailored to you

Recovering after Breast Cancer surgery can come with shoulder stiffness, tightness, weakness, pain, and reduced movement — especially following lymph node removal or radiation treatment.

Gentle, guided exercise can play an important role in recovery by helping to improve mobility, rebuild strength, reduce discomfort, and support confidence returning to everyday activities.

At the right pace, and when individualised, exercise can be safe, effective, and tailored to each person’s stage of recovery and individual needs. 💕

Our exercise physiologists, Tresna, Bree and Emily, are here to provide you with exercise guidance 😊

Last week we had an incredible turnout for our education evening all about osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone health as part of our program, The Bone Lab! 🦴✨

My name is Rhiannon, and I had the opportunity to speak about what osteoporosis is and the powerful role exercise plays in building and maintaining stronger bones.

A huge thank you to our wonderful guest speakers who joined us on the night:

🔹️ Nicky Saliba, dietitian from , who shared practical and achievable nutrition strategies to support better bone health in everyday life.

🔹️ Dr Vikram Sagar from , who provided valuable insight into bone density scans and their role in assessing bone health.

Participants in The Bone Lab have now completed their one-on-one assessments, attended our educational session, and today begin their 8-week group exercise program — all focused on improving BONE HEALTH 💪🦴

We are so excited to support everyone through this journey!

There will be more intakes throughout the year, and we are now taking expressions of interest for future Bone Lab programs. Please reach out if you would like to learn more! ✨
