📢 Important Medicare Bulk Billing Update

From 1 July, changes to Medicare's Assignment of Benefit (AoB) process mean that patients must now provide a physical or electronic signature for every bulk-billed appointment.
Please note: Karalta General Practice remains a private billing practice. These changes only affect patients and appointments that are eligible for bulk billing, including services such as:
• Children under 13 years of age
• Chronic Condition Management Plan appointments
• Health Assessments
• Other Medicare-funded bulk-billed services

What does this mean for eligible patients?
✅ Verbal consent is no longer accepted for bulk billing.
✅ You will need to sign either a paper form at the clinic or a secure digital form sent via SMS or email.
✅ Consent is required for each bulk-billed visit.
✅ Your signature must be received before your Medicare claim can be processed.

To help make this process smooth and easy:
📱 Make sure we have your current mobile number and email address.
✍️ If you receive a digital consent form after your appointment, please complete it as soon as possible.
💡 Delays in providing consent may affect how your appointment is billed.
