Meeting an NDIS provider for the first time can feel daunting. A little preparation makes a big difference.

Here is what to think about before you walk in the door:

1️⃣ Know what funding categories are in your plan and what they can be used for
2️⃣ Have a sense of your goals, both short term and longer term
3️⃣ Think about what your daily life looks like and where you need the most support
4️⃣ Be honest about what has and has not worked with previous providers
5️⃣ Write down any questions you want answered before making a decision

A good provider will not rush you. At We Care Providers, our first conversation is always about listening. There is no pressure, just a chance to see if we are the right fit.

1 in 8 men in Australia experience depression. 1 in 5 experience anxiety.
Yet men are half as likely as women to seek professional help.

For men living with a psychosocial disability, that reluctance can have serious consequences. Conditions like bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, PTSD, and severe depression do not get better by being ignored. And the longer support is delayed, the harder daily life becomes.

Asking for help is not giving up. It is how you keep going.
If you or a man you care about is living with a mental health condition that is affecting daily life, the NDIS may be able to help. Our team can talk you through your options.

❎ Myth: once you are approved for the NDIS, your funding stays the same forever.
✅ Reality: your plan is designed to change as your life does.

NDIS plans are reviewed regularly, and participants can request a review at any time if their needs, goals, or circumstances change. If your condition has progressed, your support needs have increased, or you feel your current plan is not working for you, that is exactly the kind of thing a plan review is for.

A lot of participants do not realise they have the right to push for a review before their scheduled date. Or that going into a review with clear evidence and a strong understanding of their needs makes a significant difference to the outcome.

At We Care Providers we can help you prepare for a plan review and make sure your funding reflects where you are at right now, not where you were twelve months ago.

Men's Health Week is a reminder that asking for support is not a sign of weakness. It is one of the most practical things a person can do for themselves and for the people who depend on them.

For men living with disability, whether that is a physical condition, a neurological diagnosis, a psychosocial disability, or an acquired brain injury, getting the right support in place makes an enormous difference to quality of life, independence, and mental wellbeing.

If you are a man living with disability who has been putting off looking into the NDIS, or a family member who wants to help someone take that step, our team is here to help.

What does NDIS support actually look like for someone living with cerebral palsy?

CP affects movement, muscle tone, and motor skills, but it presents differently in every person. Some people living with CP need minimal support. Others require assistance across most areas of daily life. The NDIS is designed to meet people wherever they are on that spectrum.

Funded supports can include physiotherapy and occupational therapy, assistive technology and equipment, help with daily tasks and personal care, home modifications, community participation, and supported independent living where needed.

Eligibility is based on the functional impact of the condition, not the diagnosis alone. So if you have been told you might not qualify, or have simply not looked into it yet, it is worth having a conversation.

Our team can help you understand what you or someone you support may be entitled to. Get in touch today.

There is a lot of noise about the Federal Budget and what it means for the NDIS. It can feel unsettling, especially if you or someone you support relies on the scheme.

Here is the reality. Nothing changes for participants right now. Your current plan and funded supports stay in place until the new legislation is passed. You do not need to do anything.

The changes being discussed, including updated eligibility assessments and a new planning framework, are not scheduled to begin until April 2027 at the earliest.

We are staying across every update as it comes so we can keep our participants and their families informed. If you have questions or concerns about what this means for your plan, reach out to our team directly.

Today the MCG will fill with tens of thousands of Melburnians for the Big Freeze, and this year it carries a weight it never has before.

Neale Daniher passed away on 27 May after more than a decade of living with motor neurone disease. In that time he raised over $100 million for MND research and built a movement that united the country. Today is a chance for Melbourne to come together and honour that.

Motor neurone disease is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement, speech, and breathing. It progresses fast and looks different for every person who lives with it.

At We Care Providers, we support participants living with MND and other neurological conditions. If you or someone you know needs support navigating the NDIS after an MND diagnosis, reach out to our team today.

When a family describes the care their loved one receives as what NDIS support should look like, it is a reminder of why we do this work.

Not for the recognition, but because getting it right for the people we support is what drives everything we do.

Empathetic. Professional. Focused on the person, not the paperwork. That is what we show up to be every day, and it is what every participant and family who walks through our door deserves.

If you are looking for support that puts people first, come and talk to us.

Myth: you have to be severely disabled to qualify for the NDIS.
Reality: eligibility has nothing to do with how your disability looks from the outside.

The NDIS is designed for people with permanent and significant disability, but significant does not mean visible, obvious, or severe in the way most people assume. What matters is the functional impact. How your disability affects your ability to complete daily activities, participate in the community, and live independently.

Someone living with an intellectual disability, a psychosocial condition, chronic fatigue, or an acquired brain injury may qualify even if their support needs are not immediately apparent to others.

If you have been told you probably would not qualify, or have assumed the NDIS is not for you, it is worth having a conversation with someone who knows the scheme well.

Our team can help you understand your options at no obligation.
