Welcome to the week I just had!

1. Sneaky peek of something brewing in the background for .village.collective__ [you’re welcome to speculate in the comments!]
2. Mothers Group fills my soul 💫 I go with no set plan, I can talk underwater about my work so it begins with Q+A and I always manage to hit the topics I want to make sure they hear. 2 hours of talking 🫣💁🏼‍♀️
3. Because I usually have my youngest with me on Mondays, I got my hubby to take the day off and have 1:1 with him. That meant I could squeeze in a home visit for a feeding consultation before school pick up!
4. Tuesday is my 1:1 day with my youngest 🥰
5. Wednesday was our monthly tongue tie clinic at with - always a busy but fulfilling day helping these babies
6. Wednesday night was State of Origin for our Rugby OBSESSED boy. Photo is blurry because he was jumping all around when they got that last lucky try! 💙🩵
7. Thursday was a little bit different - we were asked to do a 10 part series podcast (the day flew by so fast!)
8. and Friday was a new one for me! A FULLLLL day off - no Mums and Bubs! I set aside the day to tackle the mountains of admin, some CPD I need to access before time runs out (thanks ADHD!) and .nurture and I were able to catch up about our next project at .village.collective__ 🙌🏻
8. Saturday we avoided all housework and got the boys outside for a day of wharf fishing. We went to multiple wharves! Not much luck though!
9. Rugby Sundays over here! I’m manager for our U11 Union team, hubby is coach. When I say our son is rugby obsessed, it’s very much nurtured over here!
10. Nail refresh with 🫧
11. And what better way to finish up the week than more fishing! And catching myself 2 crabs! (No I didn’t eat them!)

Looking forward to another jam-packed week 💫

If you’re pumping with the fl**ges that came in the box, there is a 90%+ chance they are the wrong size. That’s not a guess. It’s what the research consistently shows.

Most pumps ship with 24mm and 28mm fl**ges. The average ni**le diameter sits between 13mm and 17mm. The standard fl**ge is often 10mm too big.

Why it matters, beyond comfort:

🩷 The fl**ge tunnel should fit your ni**le, not your ar**la. When it’s too big, ar**lar tissue gets pulled in with every cycle, which damages tissue and can lead to ni**le trauma, blebs, blocked ducts and recurrent mastitis.

🩷 An incorrectly sized fl**ge does not effectively remove milk. The vacuum is pulling on tissue that isn’t designed to release milk. So you pump for 40 minutes, get 30ml, and assume your supply is the problem. It usually isn’t.

🩷 Persistent under removal of milk signals your body to down regulate supply. The wrong fl**ge doesn’t just hurt in the moment, it can quietly tank your supply over weeks.

🩷 Pumping should not hurt. Your ni**le should not come out white, purple, ringed, blistered or stretched. That is tissue damage, not “just how pumping feels.”

📏 Both breasts may need different sizes. This is normal.
📏 Sizing changes throughout your journey. What fit at 6 weeks may not fit at 6 months.

The “she eyeballed it and said you look like a 21” approach is not sizing. It’s a guess. And it’s costing women their comfort, their supply, and often their breastfeeding journey.

If pumping hurts, if your output is low, or if you keep getting blocked ducts or mastitis, please get properly sized before you change anything else. 🤍

🩷 I’ve written a full step by step blog on how to correctly size your ni**les at home and know when to size down again.

Comment FL**GE below and I’ll send the link straight to your DMs.

Save this for later. Send it to the friend who’s pumping in pain and blaming her body.

Super excited about my new , could be a total game-changer for my workflow!

I usually take too long and get so sidetracked while writing my clinical plans - so I’m hoping this is life changing for me 😅

Not all fl**ges are created equal… and not all ni**les are the same size.

You’ll be surprised how much we can optimise pumping and milk output purely by fitting your fl**ge size better!

If pumping feels uncomfortable, inefficient, or you’re noticing ni**le discomfort having a better fl**ge fit is often the missing piece.

The Maymom MyFit Classic Series Medela-compatible fl**ges are designed for a truly personalised fit, with sizes from 12 mm to 30 mm — because better fit means better milk removal, improved comfort, and more effective pumping.

Compatible with Medela PersonalFit-style connectors (Freestyle, Harmony, Maxi), these are an easy upgrade without replacing your whole pump setup.

Each pack includes 2 fl**ges (same size). BPA-free, durable, and designed for comfort.

If you’re guessing your size, it’s time to reassess. The wrong fit can impact both supply and ni**le pain.

Fertilisation isn’t simply the “fastest s***m wins.”

Millions of s***m begin the journey, but only a small number reach the egg. Along the way, they must undergo changes (capacitation) to even be capable of fertilising. The egg is surrounded by protective layers, and only s***m with the right molecular compatibility can bind and pe*****te.

Once one s***m successfully fuses with the egg, the egg immediately triggers a reaction that blocks all others from entering (preventing polys***my).

So while s***m compete to reach the egg, fertilisation ultimately depends on highly regulated biological processes where the egg plays an active role in determining which s***m succeeds.

Breastfeeding thirst is real.

Milk is made up of around 87% water. Every time your body produces milk, it’s pulling fluid from your system. That’s why you feel constantly thirsty and why half-full glasses end up scattered around the house.

Your body is essentially a milk factory running 24/7. It needs water to keep everything flowing, support your energy, and maintain your wellbeing.

A simple hack? Invest in a good drink bottle with a straw and keep it with you wherever you go. Sip often, and don’t stress if your house looks like a mini water museum.

That thirst is a sign your body is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.
