Twins!>>> follow for more sleepy tips! Having twins may seem daunting for some mums trying to figure out their sleep schedules, feeding times, and to try and keep them both on track, letâs face it.. itâs bloody exhausting right!! however it doesnât have to be that complicated! Let me take the pressure of you a little and get you on a great sleeping schedule at least! Keep in mind we are teaching not 1 baby but 2 babies to sleep so thereâs no doubt it will take twice as long adjusting to everything but it will be all worth while in the end for the results!
The key to a successful sleep schedule with twins is to get them on a feeding schedule first. We all know babies sleep better when their hunger has been met. Sleep training twins can either be done together in the same room if they are room sharing or separate rooms. Both options are completely acceptable it just depends on your parenting style and values.
My top tips đś
- more than half of twins are born prematurely so itâs important to go by their corrected age while sleep training
- keep a sleep log to make it easier to stay
- Wake your babies up at the Same time every morning to keep their routine consistent and on track.
- on track and make tweaks as needed throughout the day if needed to ensure bedtime is the same time for both.
- Ensure sleep environment is appropriate and they have positive sleep associations
- Ensure they are both in a separate cot each to give them their space aw from each other and to reinforce the boundary with sleep time.
- Establish a sufficient wind down routine to help calm their active bodies and minds and to also make sure they donât become overtired.
- If all else fails, bring bedtime forward for an early bedtime. This weâll help them catch up on the sleep or naps they may have missed during the day. And most importantly, look after yourself mumma, you need time for yourself which is why itâs never to late to ask for help if you need it đ
