May was a massive month of Staff Service Award celebrations at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne.

Recognising a combined total of 7,725 years of service, the month saw us come together to celebrate over 620 dedicated staff members across our East Melbourne, Fitzroy, Kew, Werribee and Albert Street sites who achieved significant 5 – 40 year work anniversaries during 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Kicking off with a Melbourne-wide Award Event on Wednesday, 6th May at Australian Catholic University for our 20 – 40 year recipients, the celebrations continued at each hospital site with dedicated Award ceremonies and departmental presentations for our 5 – 15 year recipients.

A big thank-you and congratulations to all of our wonderful recipients. We hope you enjoyed the celebrations and again, thank you for your wonderful contributions to our organisation over your time to date with us 👏 👏 👏

We look forward to celebrating service milestones for even more of our wonderful team members in 2027 🙂 🙌

St Vincent's Private Hospital Cardiologist Dr Elizabeth Paratz recently spoke with The Daily Telegraph about one of the biggest challenges facing Australians when it comes to heart health: understanding and managing their risk factors ❤️🩺

According to Dr Paratz, awareness is key. "Knowing the risks is vital because there are things you can change. Don't smoke, keep as fit and healthy as you can and be aware of your numbers."

Heart disease remains one of Australia's leading causes of illness, yet many risk factors can be managed through lifestyle changes and regular health checks.

At St Vincent's Private Hospital, our experienced cardiology team is committed to helping patients understand, manage and improve their cardiovascular health. If you have concerns about your heart health or would like to better understand your cardiovascular risk factors, speak with your GP. They can assess your symptoms, discuss any concerns and provide a referral to a cardiologist if appropriate.

Imagine the fear. The anxiety. The exhaustion.

This was Danni’s life for years.

Danni was having epileptic seizures every seven minutes.

Following specialist care and brain surgery at St Vincent’s, she is now seizure-free and able to reclaim her independence and quality of life.

For more than 25 years, philanthropy has helped advance epilepsy care at St Vincent’s – supporting world-class clinicians, pioneering research and life-changing technology for patients living with epilepsy.

This year’s Tax Appeal will help fund advanced monitoring and diagnostic equipment to support safer, more precise and more personalised neurological care.

A big congratulations to Brenda, Fourth Floor Associate Nurse Unit Manager, who was recently announced as the 2026 Private Hospitals Delta Goodrem Foundation Excellence Awards winner.

A peer nominated Award, Brenda has been part of our Victorian Plastic Surgery Unit for the entirety of her 36 year nursing career, having first completed her specialised Plastics training at Preston and Northcote Community Hospital (PANCH).

Known for her exceptional and compassionate care, Brenda is described by her peers as “the heart and soul of the ward” and “an extremely valuable member of the team.” One nominee noted that Brenda looks after her team just as well as she does her own patients, saying “Brenda understands the physical, emotional and mental demands nursing can have on an individual,” and “has created an environment of trust and safety where myself and other staff members feel safe to turn to her in times of need.”

Recognising nurses whose leadership, innovation and compassionate care create meaningful impact, this is the first year the Delta Goodrem Excellence Awards have been open to nurses and midwives nationally here at St Vincent’s.

With Brenda receiving nominations from three separate colleagues, she was deemed this year’s Private Hospital winner, receiving a trophy, certificate and vouchers from Red Balloon, Levantine Hill, Merivale, Accor Hotels and Oroton.

From everyone at St Vincent’s, a very big congratulations and well done to Brenda on this wonderful achievement 👏 👏

It was certainly a week of celebrations, as we continued our 2026 Staff Service Award Presentations with our local hospital site events last week 🥳

With East Melbourne, Fitzroy, Kew and Werribee each holding a dedicated event for our 10 and 15 Year Recipients (or 5 – 15 Year recipients at Kew and Werribee), each recipient was formally acknowledged by our Acting Chief Executive Officer Jenny, Chief Financial Officer Brett and their local General Manager, who presented them with a certificate and pin.

With celebratory coffee and cake served after each presentation – which collectively recognised the efforts of over 400 staff members - the events were a lovely opportunity to reflect on and acknowledge our amazing team members for their hard work, loyalty, dedication and the invaluable contributions they have made to our organisation throughout their length of service with us 💜

Our efforts now turn to celebrating our five year recipients at East Melbourne, Fitzroy and our Albert Street office 🥰
