4 things criminals look for when choosing a house 🏠
I’ve had my fair share of break-ins, including someone trying to steal my car last Christmas Eve. Everyone deserves to feel safe at home and in their local community.
So when we recently moved house, the number one thing I prioritised was security. I went straight to my local to make sure our home is NOT an easy target .. because a criminal only needs a few seconds to decide if it is.
Here’s what they look for:
1️⃣ A dark property - poor lighting creates hiding spots and makes it easy to approach unnoticed. Sensor spotlights are the fix.
2️⃣ Unlocked doors and windows - if it’s already open, it’s the easiest way in.
3️⃣ Signs no one’s home - piled-up packages, an overflowing letterbox. A video doorbell means you know the moment something arrives.
4️⃣ No security cameras - the most important one. Visible cameras are often enough to make someone move on entirely.
