Meet Rachal Quinlan who is a Paediatric Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experiencing working with children and adolescents in tertiary teaching hospitals and private practices in Australia and Singapore.

A highlight of her clinical practice has been working collaboratively with children with hypermobility associated conditions, their families and the multidisciplinary team involved in their care.

Rachal’s PhD project with us is developing guidelines for health professionals managing children and adolescents with hypermotility associated conditions and lower limb pain.

Meet Steff Ball who is an experienced paediatric physiotherapist with over a decade of clinical experience working with children and adolescents across tertiary healthcare and private practice settings in Australia.

She currently holds research and sessional teaching roles at Macquarie University and is undertaking a PhD with us focused on the development of clinical guidelines for health professionals managing lower limb pain in children and adolescents with Perthes disease.

Jess brings a background in allied health education and clinical practice, and her work aims to inform more inclusive and child-centred models of care.

His research is focused on developing evidence-based clinical practice recommendations for children with growing pains. Mitchell's clinical work is primarily with children and families within the public sector.

Huge congratulations to Mitch!

We’re thrilled to celebrate our PhD student and podiatrist researcher Mitchell Smith, who has won the Best Rapid Communication Award at the recent 2026 Pain Conference in Adelaide

Mitch delivered a compelling 90‑second Rapid Communication presenting our consensus‑based definition and diagnostic criteria for growing pains in children - a big step forward for clarity and consistency in research and clinical care.

As part of his award, Mitch has received complimentary registration to attend the IASP World Congress on Pain in Bangkok this October

Meet Dr Luke Davies who is a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and educator in the School of Primary and Allied Health Care at Monash University, and the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Sciences at Macquarie University.

Luke’s clinical work has involved working with complex chronic patients through education and exercise-based interventions. Luke’s teaching experience includes areas such as functional anatomy, exercise prescription for chronic conditions and various foundational units within entry-level physiotherapy programmes.
