One simple thing you can do to help your child understand their body? Talk about how yours feels, out loud.

“My eyes feel heavy and my brain feels slow. I think I’m tired.”

That’s interoception. It’s noticing what’s going on inside your body, and it’s something I work on a lot with the kids I see.

You can start with little moments like this throughout the day.

Meltdowns, wet nights and still holding crayons in a fist.

All things you might see in a 3-year-old. But when is it worth getting them checked?

Here’s what I’d be looking out for.

Should I do 4-year-olds next? Let me know in the comments!

We finished our coffees while they were still hot ☕️

Girls’ catch-up in Baldivis with two kids in tow. I packed the Travel Play Kit I’ve been making and started a timer.

57 minutes later, still no screens and no “I’m bored”.

How long do yours last at a café before the bargaining starts? 😂

Stocking fillers for 4 year olds, all under $20 and picked by a paediatric OT.

Play-Doh Spider-Man Thwip Squisher Set, $14.99. What 4 year old doesn't love playdough? Not many. If they're into Spider-Man too, this one's an easy win.

Nature Scavenger Hunt Cards, $17. A pocket-sized deck for your next adventure. Take it to the park, on a walk or out in the backyard and see what they can find.

Hot Wheels Monster Truck, $5. Tiny, cheap and it'll get used over and over. Ramp building, races, crashes. This one lives in my bag.

Want to see all 71 stocking fillers sorted by age? Comment TINSEL and I'll send you the list.

I got the Bunnings storage tubs everyone’s been buying (two tone scallop storage baskets ranging $3-$5), and they’re even cuter in real life.

Some are going into my clinic and some are coming home with me. I’ll show you how I set them up soon, including how I use them for toy rotation.

Follow along so you don’t miss it.

An update on the Kidera Travel Play Kit. Full disclosure, it’s my kit, so I’m biased.

I made it for the times kids are stuck somewhere they can’t leave, like a plane or the café while you wait for food or enjoy a coffee.

Comment DIBS and I’ll send you the waitlist link.

Kmart's October toys, buy or skip, from a paediatric OT.

LEGO Disney Princess Advent Calendar, $45. BUY, if advent calendars are a thing in your house. I like the LEGO ones because once December's done, you're left with toys they'll keep playing with.

Wooden Sorting Cup, $10. SKIP. Grab a $3 pack of popsticks and make your own. Same idea, a third of the price.

Magnetic Powered Pipeline Set, $79. I'm torn on this one. It looks amazing, but I keep hearing the quality isn't always great and pieces can break. Have you got one? Tell me in the comments.

Bubble Sword with Lights, $12. It looks like so much fun for outside, but I can also see it ending with someone getting whacked. Would you buy it?

Elf on the Shelf outfits, $10 and $20. BUY if you do the elf. Dressing them up gives you an easy idea for the day, so there's one less thing to think up each night.

Wooden Fashion Dollhouse, $129. BUY. I'll always throw a pretend play pick in, and this one comes with the cutest little alfresco.

LEGO Minifigures Shrek Series, $5. BUY. Cheap, tiny and great for pretend play.

Not sure what suits your kid? Comment TOYMATCH and I'll send you my free toy quiz for picks matched to them.
