Today we attended the ACCCN & Austin Health Critical Care Outreach VIC Seminar, which brought together critical care professionals to explore current and emerging trends in ICU outreach services.

Delivered in partnership with Austin Health, internationally recognised for its ICU outreach program, the seminar covered topics including the role of ICU Liaison Nurses in Victorian health services, outreach models of care, education and training, MET decision-making, and patient outcomes.

Thank you to the organisers and presenters for an engaging day of learning and professional development.

Today is World MS Day, a global awareness day recognising everyone affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). This year’s campaign, My MS Diagnosis, highlights the importance of early and accurate diagnosis, improved awareness, and supportive care for people living with MS.

MS is one of the most common neurological conditions affecting the brain and spinal cord, with more than 2.8 million people living with MS worldwide.

At YNA, we recognise the important role healthcare professionals play in supporting people living with complex and ongoing health conditions through compassionate, informed care.

With a significant change coming to NDIS Supported Independent Living from 1 July 2026, there is one question every participant and family should ask their provider:

"Are you a registered NDIS provider?"

From 1 July, only registered providers can legally deliver SIL support services. If your provider is not registered, they will not be able to continue delivering your support after that date.

If they say yes, confirm their listing on the NDIS Provider Register at ndis.gov.au so you can verify it independently.

If they say no, or they are working toward registration but have not yet confirmed it, now is a good time to start planning. SIL service agreements typically include a notice period, so acting early gives you more options and a smoother transition if one is needed.

Small habits can make a real difference.

On a busy day, it’s often the little things that help you keep going. Staying hydrated, having snacks on hand, taking a quiet moment when you can, or checking in with a colleague.

These simple habits can support you throughout your shift.

And just as importantly, remember to look after yourself along the way.

From 1 July 2026, registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission will be mandatory for all SIL providers meaning higher standards, greater accountability, and stronger protection for you.

What this means for NDIS participants and their families:
• Your funding stays the same
• Your support continues if your provider is registered
• Unregistered providers must transition or stop delivering SIL services

As a fully registered NDIS provider, YNA already meets all requirements. 💙

This National Reconciliation Week, the 2026 theme ‘All In’ reminds us that reconciliation is built through listening, learning and genuine connection.

When YNA personal care worker Sue took on a rural and remote placement in Katherine, NT, it was her first experience working with First Nations communities. What began as a short-term contract soon became one of the most meaningful experiences of her career.

Over nearly a year, Sue built lasting relationships, learnt language, heard stories and gained a deeper appreciation for First Nations culture, community and connection to Country and the land surrounding it.

Sue’s story is a reminder that reconciliation is shaped through respect, openness and shared experiences.
