💚 Tube Feeding & Dysphagia Community Support Group Morning Tea 💚

We’re looking forward to welcoming our community to our next Tube Feeding & Dysphagia Community Support Group Morning Tea, proudly hosted by Complete Dietetics and Surgical House, with support from Nurse Next Door.

This relaxed and supportive morning is for people who are tube fed or living with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties), as well as families, carers, support workers, support coordinators and allied health professionals.

Meet Megan Hosie, one of our wonderful Paediatric Dietitians joining us for our Parents Morning Tea! 🌿

Megan is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist and Specialist Paediatric Dietitian. She supports children and families with selective eating, growth concerns, allergies and intolerances, neurodivergence, ADHD and autism using an inclusive, responsive-feeding approach.

🍓🌸 SPRING INTO FRUIT! 🌸🍉

Make fruit fun with DIY fruit kebabs! 🍓🥝🍎

Spring is here, and what better way to celebrate than with some colourful, fresh and delicious fruit? 🌷☀️

If you have a little one who is hesitant about fruit, taking the pressure off eating and making food FUN can be a great place to start.

Try making fruit kebabs together! 🥝🍓🍉🍎

Let your child:
✨ Choose which fruits they want to use
✨ Help wash and prepare the fruit
✨ Arrange the fruit in their own pattern
✨ Explore different colours, textures, smells and shapes
✨ Make funny faces, rainbows or colour patterns
✨ Serve them with yoghurt for dipping
✨ Decide whether they want to taste something — no pressure!

🍎 At Complete Dietetics, we support children and families to develop positive, enjoyable relationships with food. Our paediatric dietitians work with families around concerns including picky eating, restrictive diets and stressful mealtimes, using practical strategies to help children explore food at their own pace.

🌈 Remember:

Exposure is progress.
Touching, smelling, licking, squishing, cutting or playing with a new food can all be steps towards becoming more comfortable with it.

And sometimes… the best way to encourage a child to explore food is simply to make it fun and take the pressure off! 💕

🌿 MEET SAMMY BARING | PAEDIATRIC DIETITIAN 🌿

With 9+ years of clinical experience in paediatric nutrition, Sammy brings extensive expertise in supporting infants, children and adolescents with complex feeding and nutritional needs. Alongside her work with Complete Dietetics, Sammy works at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, where she has extensive experience supporting children with feeding difficulties, tube feeding and swallowing concerns.

Sammy has a particular interest in:

🌟 MEET OUR GUEST SPEAKER – ELLE! 🌟

We’re so excited to welcome Elle, Senior Speech Therapist from OKAY Therapy, to our very first Parents Morning Tea! ☕️💕

With over 8 years’ experience in the disability sector, Elle supports people of all ages with communication, swallowing and developmental needs.

Elle has a particular passion for supporting neurodivergent people and uses a trauma-informed and neurodivergent-affirming approach in her work. Her swallowing and mealtime practice includes assessment and management for children aged 6+, young people and adults with disabilities.

At our Parents Morning Tea, Elle will be joining our paediatric dietitians to share practical, evidence-based strategies to help families navigate selective eating and mealtimes with greater confidence and safety. 🥄🌱
