Childosophy

Childosophy Means 'child's wisdom' : A philosophy of wellbeing for children and our inner-child. A knowing that when we understand children, we understand life.

A whole-child, research informed development model created by Dr. Maxine Thérèse. A complete philosophy and practical applications of this philosophy for children's needs and welllbeing

Assisting your child to be the best they can be...

All children are balanced and harmoniously whole but life's situations & circumstances can tip our children off balance or fragment their wholeness. Childosophy

is an amazing approach that assists adults and children to identify why and when they have become imbalanced and help them to return to their natural harmony. Offering children and caregivers of children access to an enhanced way of interpreting their feelings, thoughts and actions and understand why they have needed to act in certain ways. Dr Maxine Therese teaches others to use the system and trains candidates to be certified as Childosophy Children's Wellbeing practitioners. Contact Maxine at www.childosophy.com

Children are some of the most sophisticated emotional sensors on the planet.

Not because they are fragile, but because they are wired from the very beginning to attune to the people who care for them. This is a survival mechanism but it is also something more than that, it is the beginning of a bond that runs deeper than words.

When we dismiss what children pick up on by saying “You’re imagining things” or “That isn’t right” we ask them to distrust their own perception, their own body and their own knowing.

Childosophy asks us to go the other way, to take seriously what children sense and to honour the intelligence of their attunement.

And to respond not with dismissal but with honesty.

Your child does not need you to perform calm. They need you to find it.

There is a frequency beneath every word we say and children are extraordinarily sensitive to it. When we are unaware of our own emotional state, our children become the ones carrying it. Not because they are fragile, but because they are attuned.

Childosophy understands this not as pressure on parents, but as an invitation. To come home to yourself, so your child can feel safe in your presence.

💬 Where in your body do you feel it when your child is unsettled?

Understanding children’s behaviour is one thing. Script accent: Knowing how to work with it is another.
Caption: There is a difference between caring about children and being trained to support them with real precision.

Most people who work with children care deeply. But caring without a framework leaves us guessing and reacting. We wonder why the same child keeps struggling in the same ways.

The Foundational Needs Model changes that. It gives you a way of reading what a child is actually communicating underneath the behaviour. Because the child who melts down, withdraws, or pushes everyone away is not being difficult. They are asking something - for a need to be met.

When you know what to look for, you can hear it. Childosophy trains practitioners who want to close the gap between caring and knowing.

The Foundational Needs Model is the framework behind everything Childosophy teaches. Save this and come back to it, each time you do, you will see something different in the children around you.

At the heart of Childosophy is a question that Dr Maxine Therese has spent years exploring through doctoral research:

When was education truly designed with the child at the centre?

What the research reveals is, at times, confronting. Inviting a deeper examination of the systems, assumptions, and structures that have shaped modern childhood and schooling.

If this resonates, Childosophy encourages you to share this piece with a parent, teacher, or educator who has ever felt that something about the way children are treated within schools doesn’t quite fit, but perhaps hasn’t yet had the language to explain why.
Because language shapes awareness.
And awareness shapes the future of our children.

We spend so much time tracking what a child can’t do yet.

Can’t read. Can’t sit still. Can’t regulate. Can’t cope.

And I understand why, we want to help them get there.

But somewhere in all that measuring, we forget to ask: “What is this child already?”

Because they are already something. Already whole. Already communicating, relating, feeling, reaching. Already a person with an interior life we’re only beginning to understand.

The idea that children are incomplete - always becoming, never quite there yet - isn’t a scientific fact. It’s a philosophical assumption. One so embedded in the way we think about development that most of us have never questioned it.

My work keeps coming back to this: the child doesn’t need to earn wholeness. They arrived with it.
What changes when we start there?

Childosophy helps you reconnect with your inner child. The unmet needs from childhood are carried with us as we grow. When you remember and tend to your inner child, you can show up with more clarity and connection in your relationships with children.

Our practitioners support not only your relationship with your child and their sense of self, but also your relationship with your own inner child.

Here’s a glimpse of a few of our practitioners as little people. To see who they are today and how they work with Childosophy, visit the practitioner page on our website.

The foundation of Childosophy comes from questions I sought in my own mothering before going onto research the child and develop a new map of the child and its wellbeing in my PhD.

Have you ever heard your child say, “I remember this from when I lived before”?

With Childosophy, we finally have a way to understand these profound moments. Rather than dismissing what our children share, we can go deeper — exploring the knowledge their souls may be carrying forward. Childosophy offers a map and framework that reaches beyond this lifetime, through generational lineage, epigenetic memory, and even past life experience. It allows parents to truly understand their children at a soul level — meeting them where they are, with curiosity, openness, and love.
