At GBRT in Grovedale, the starting point is straightforward regardless of where you are in your health journey. Whether you arrive with a clear idea of what you need or no idea at all, the first thing that happens is a genuine conversation. Every person is matched with a practitioner whose skills and approach are the right fit for what they are dealing with, and a clear path forward is established from there.

Under one roof, GBRT offers Remedial Massage, Myotherapy, Bowen Therapy, and Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Each modality serves a different purpose and works best for different presentations, and having all four available means the care can be genuinely tailored rather than fitted into whatever happens to be on offer. For many people, a combination of modalities across a course of care produces the most meaningful and lasting results.

The free 15-minute pain assessment is the lowest barrier way to begin that conversation if you are unsure where to start. It costs nothing, takes very little time, and gives both you and the clinic the information needed to move forward with confidence.

Results like this are why we do what we do.

Lower back pain that involves nerve irritation is one of the more debilitating things a person can experience day to day. It affects how you sit, how you sleep, how you move through even the most ordinary parts of life. When someone comes into the clinic carrying that kind of load, the priority is always the same, understand exactly what is happening, take the time to assess properly, and find the most effective and least invasive path toward genuine relief.

Chris Reed brings a depth of experience and a genuine commitment to understanding each client's body before doing anything else. That thorough approach is what makes the difference between temporary relief and a result that actually holds.

If lower back pain or nerve discomfort has been part of your daily experience, it is worth having a conversation with our team about what is possible.

Cupping looks confronting. The marks it leaves are the part most people focus on, and understandably so. But what is actually happening beneath the skin is far more straightforward than it appears.

The suction created by cupping lifts the tissue rather than compressing it, which is the opposite of most hands-on therapy. This creates space within the layers of fascia and muscle, encourages fluid movement through areas that have become restricted, and allows structures that have been stuck or compressed to slide more freely. For anyone dealing with chronic tightness or areas that have not responded well to direct pressure alone, it can be a genuinely useful addition to a session.

The marks are not bruising in the traditional sense. They reflect the level of tension and restriction in the tissue at the time, which is why they vary in depth and why they tend to lighten with each subsequent session as the tissue becomes more responsive. They fade within a few days and are rarely uncomfortable.

For anyone who has been curious but hesitant, cupping does not have to be an all-or-nothing experience. It can be introduced gradually, applied to a single area alongside a regular session, and adjusted entirely based on how the body responds.

If tightness, restricted movement, or fascial tension has been part of your experience and other approaches have only gone so far, it may be worth a conversation.

Pain and physical limitation are not always the primary barrier. Sometimes what holds a person back most is the loss of trust in their own body.

Chris Reed, founder of GBRT, works with clients across a wide spectrum of presentations, and some of the most significant shifts happen not through addressing a structural problem but through helping someone reconnect with what their body is actually capable of. Extended periods of reduced movement, whether following illness, injury, or a difficult period of life, can create a gap between what the body can do and what the nervous system believes it can do. That gap is real, and it deserves the same care and attention as any physical complaint.

Bowen Therapy, combined with gentle progressive movement and genuine conversation, can help bridge that gap. By creating clear physical feedback about strength and capacity, and by supporting the nervous system to feel safe enough to move again, the goal becomes not just pain relief but a return to the everyday things that matter most. A garden. A walk. A trip somewhere that has felt out of reach for too long.

Recovery is not always linear and it is not always purely physical. At GBRT, the whole picture matters.

Recurring headaches that have been investigated and cleared medically are often the body pointing somewhere other than the head.

Tension in the upper cervical spine, the suboccipital muscles at the base of the skull, the jaw, and the muscles along the sides of the head can all generate referred pain that presents as a headache. These structures are deeply connected to posture, stress, screen time, and the way the body holds tension across the shoulders and neck over time. When that tension becomes chronic, headaches become a regular feature of someone's week rather than an occasional event.

Addressing the underlying muscular and structural contributors rather than managing the headache itself is what creates lasting change. For many people this means looking at the whole picture, including how the nervous system is regulating tension across the upper body, rather than focusing on the site of pain alone.

If headaches are a consistent part of your week and you have already ruled out anything more serious, it may be time to look at what your body has been quietly carrying.

Most people are aware that sitting for long periods is not ideal. Far fewer appreciate the full extent of what prolonged stillness actually does to the body over time.

Joint fluid is generated through movement. When joints stay static for hours, that fluid is not produced and the structures that depend on it become compressed, stiff, and less responsive. The fascial system, which runs through and around every structure in the body, begins to adhere and lose its capacity to glide freely. Digestion slows. Circulation reduces. The muscles responsible for posture fatigue under sustained load without the relief that movement naturally provides.

The cumulative effect of a largely sedentary day, repeated consistently across weeks and months, is not simply tightness or occasional back pain. It is a systemic reduction in how well the body functions across every system it runs.

The good news is that the threshold for meaningful change is lower than most people expect. Regular breaks, deliberate movement throughout the day, and structured physical care that addresses what prolonged sitting has accumulated in the tissue can make a significant difference to how the body feels and performs, not just at work but in the rest of life too.

If your body has been absorbing the cost of long days at a desk and you are ready to do something about it, we are here to help.
