I created EM Nutrition for the people who are exhausted by being handed another plan without anyone asking whether it actually fits their life.

Because nutrition advice means very little if it ignores:
• chronic illness
• hormones
• surgery
• burnout
• neurodivergence
• exhaustion
• capacity
• being human

I’m Erica — a clinical nutritionist, bariatric patient, and someone who believes nourishment should feel supportive, not punishing.

This space is about:
🤍 practical nourishment
🤍 realistic support
🤍 small sustainable steps
🤍 nutrition by addition, not restriction

Less shame. More support.

I’m really glad you’re here 🌿

I think one of the hardest parts of menopause is how quickly exhaustion gets dismissed.

Women are told they’re:
• not trying hard enough
• not eating well enough
• not exercising enough
• not “looking after themselves” enough

When in reality, menopause can affect sleep, energy production, blood sugar regulation, stress responses, mood, muscle mass, and nervous system function all at once.

That kind of exhaustion is not laziness.
And it is not something you can “green smoothie” your way out of.

Nutrition can absolutely support your body through menopause.
But support is very different to perfection.

Sometimes support looks like:
• eating consistently
• adding more protein
• choosing convenience foods when energy is low
• resting more
• asking for help
• working with your body instead of fighting it

Because you deserve support through this phase of life.
Not more guilt.
Not more rules.
And definitely not more wellness pressure.

🤍

If this resonated, save or share it with someone who needs the reminder.

11 years ago, I underwent bariatric surgery.

Looking at these photos, it's easy to focus on what changed physically.

But what stands out to me most is everything that happened in between.

The learning.
The challenges.
The adjustments.
The healing.
The years spent figuring out what nourishment, health, and self-compassion actually look like in real life.

Bariatric surgery was a significant chapter in my story, but it wasn't the whole story.

11 years later, I'm grateful not only for the changes I've experienced, but for the perspective this journey has given me as both a patient and a nutritionist.

It's a big part of why I'm so passionate about helping people find realistic, compassionate support around food and health.

2/2 • The longer I studied, talked to peers and clients, the more I realised that information usually wasn’t the problem.
People aren’t failing because they don’t know what a healthy meal looks like.
They’re trying to nourish themselves while navigating exhaustion, chronic illness, ADHD, decision fatigue, busy schedules and real life.
That’s why I created EM Nutrition.
Not to help people eat perfectly, but to help them find realistic ways to eat well within the capacity they actually have.
Because sometimes what people need isn’t more information.
It’s support. 🤍

Some days the hardest part of eating isn’t nutrition knowledge.
It’s having the energy to decide what to make in the first place.

When you’re overwhelmed, burnt out, low on time, navigating chronic illness, ADHD, shift work, hormones, stress, or simply trying to survive a busy season of life… feeding yourself can start to feel like another impossible task on the list.

That’s exactly why I created LOW PREP, LOW COOK 🤍

Not as another “perfect eating” guide.
But as practical support for real humans.

Inside are gentle, realistic ideas designed to help make nourishment feel more achievable again:
• low effort meals
• balanced snack ideas
• practical grocery staples
• assembly-style meals
• supportive nutrition without the pressure

Because convenience is not failure.
And eating well should not require perfection.

Save + share with someone who needs a no-think meal 🤍

Nobody prepared me for how emotionally and physically confusing food could feel after bariatric surgery.

If you’re early post-op and feeling overwhelmed, you’re not doing it wrong.

You’re not bad at eating.
You’re not lazy.
And you’re not failing because you “lack discipline.”

A lot of the time, the body people are trying to control is actually under-supported.

Underfed.
Overwhelmed.
Exhausted.
Running on stress, survival mode, and unrealistic expectations.

Cravings, brain fog, energy crashes, and feeling out of control around food are not always character flaws.
Sometimes they’re signals.

You do not need more shame.
You probably need more support.

If this resonated, save it for later.
No rules. Just one small step.

1/3 • I didn’t become a nutritionist because I had all the answers.

I became a nutritionist because I spent a long time looking for support that felt practical, compassionate, and realistic — and often couldn’t find it.

A lot of what I do now has been shaped by both professional training and lived experience.

I didn’t come to this work through a textbook alone. I came through the experience of sitting in it myself and not finding what I needed.

That’s what I’m trying to build now — the thing I was looking for back then.

This is part 1 of a 3-part series. I’ll be sharing one piece of the story each week.

Follow along if any of this sounds familiar 🤍
See you next week.
