Ever feel like your body is going into panic mode?

Jumping into the ice bath triggers the exact same physiological response as a panic attack. Your heart rate accelerates and your breathing becomes fast and shallow.

The good news is you can use your breath to bring yourself back to center. By focusing on an extended exhale breathing in through the nose and slowly out through the mouth you manually signal to your body that it’s time to slow down. It is incredible how quickly you can shift from a state of high alert to one of calm and control.

Mastering your breath in the cold is the ultimate practice for mastering your response to stress in everyday life.

Most of the time, we push stress and emotions down just to get through the day. In this 3-hour session at CBR, we do the opposite. Using proven, rhythmic breathing techniques, we create a dedicated space for a genuine nervous system “offload.”

Big feelings, meet big breaths ☁️

Helping kids connect with their breath is one of the best tools we can give them for emotional resilience. It’s simple, effective, and something they can carry with them everywhere.

One of my favorite ways to practice with them is the Balloon Breath:
1. Place your hands on top of your head.

2. Breathe in deep through your nose and stretch your arms up wide to “inflate” your giant balloon.

3. Breathe out slowly through your mouth and bring your hands back down to rest on your head, letting the air out with a soft sssss sound.

It’s a quick way to help them settle their nervous system and move back into a place of calm. Give it a try with them tonight and see how the energy shifts! ✨
