Have you ever just stopped and watched someone... really watched them?

Tonight while working on the computer at our kitchen table, I got to watch Shaun sitting with the kids.

He wasn't giving advice.
He wasn't trying to fix anything.
He wasn't waiting for his turn to talk.

He was just... listening.

It made me realise how often we all jump in with our own stories or opinions, when sometimes all someone really needs is to feel heard.

It's such a simple thing.

But I reckon it's one of the reasons people feel so safe around him.

Some mornings aren't about getting somewhere.

They're about slowing down long enough to notice what's already there.

A sunrise.
A quiet coffee.
A laugh on the way to an appointment.
A conversation that reminds someone they're not alone.

Sometimes the biggest moments don't look big at all.

I was lucky growing up.

My Nan would spend hours cooking from scratch before heading out to the farm with Joc to feed everyone.

Back then, I probably didn't realise what she was really teaching me.

Looking back now... it was never just about the food.

It was about caring for people.

Funny how those little things stick with you.

Some people don't need fixing.

They don't need advice.

They don't need someone to tell them what they should be doing.

Sometimes they just need someone to sit beside them and remind them they're not alone.

One of the things I've learnt over the years is that everyone is carrying something.

A challenge.
A fear.
A loss.
A dream they haven't told anyone about.

You'd be surprised how much changes when someone feels genuinely heard.

Not judged.
Not rushed.
Not treated like a task on a checklist.

Just heard.

That's what people remember.

Not what you said.

Not what you did.

But how you made them feel.

Making the right decision doesn't always look the same.

For some people, it's taking the first walk.

For others, it's making the doctor's appointment they've been avoiding.

Sometimes it's asking for help.

Sometimes it's making a change that feels scary.

Today, this is one story.

One decision.

One step towards a healthier future.

But there are thousands of stories just like it.

At Murphy's, we're reminded every day that everyone's journey looks different. There is no single path to a better tomorrow.

Just people doing the best they can with the cards they've been dealt.

And sometimes, the bravest thing a person can do is decide they're worth the effort.
