These are common mistakes people can make post chemical peel 👇

1. Over-exfoliating after a peel
→ People using scrubs, acids, or active serums too soon after a peel, thinking it will "speed up” results.

2. Picking or peeling flaking skin
→ Patients manually peeling skin instead of letting the process happen naturally.

3. Expecting instant results after one peel
→ Thinking one treatment will fully resolve pigmentation or texture concerns.

4. Not protecting the skin from the sun after a peel
→ Underestimating how sensitive fresh skin is to UV exposure.

5. Using the wrong skincare immediately after treatment
→ Returning straight to active ingredients instead of barrier repair products.

We provide an aftercare handout post-peel and educate you prior to treatment on what to expect and proper homecare.

Redness. Pigmentation. Fine lines.

These three concerns often exist together, and are influenced by different processes within the skin.

Cutera Excel V+ is used in clinic to help target vascular changes, pigment irregularities, and overall skin quality in a more comprehensive way.

The goal is not to change your skin, but to support a clearer, more even and refreshed appearance over time.

What often presents as “skin texture” is not always a surface-level concern 💕

In clinic, we frequently find that uneven skin, roughness, or a lack of smoothness can be influenced by dehydration and barrier function, rather than congestion alone.

Dehydrated skin does not always appear dry, it can feel tight, look dull, and make texture more noticeable.

Common contributing factors include:

Overuse of active ingredients
Compromised skin barrier function
Environmental exposure
Inconsistent skincare routines

Management is not about increasing exfoliation or intensity, but rather restoring balance and supporting overall skin health.

Individual assessment is important, as the underlying cause can vary significantly between patients.

Rosacea flare-ups aren’t always random 👀

Some of the triggers we see at our rosacea clinic are:

🔥 Hot drinks
😓 Stress
🧴 Using the wrong skincare products

When your skin barrier is already sensitive, even everyday habits can leave skin looking red, irritated, or flushed.

The good news? Our doctor-led team can identify your triggers and get you on the right treatment plan to help calm redness, reduce inflammation, and support healthier skin long-term ✨

Pigmentation is one of the most misunderstood skin concerns, and often doesn’t respond to treatment the way people expect.

In many cases, it’s not just about using “brightening” products, it’s about understanding what’s driving it in the first place.

Common reasons pigmentation may persist include:

Sun exposure (current or past) — UV exposure is one of the biggest triggers for ongoing pigment formation

Post-inflammatory pigmentation — marks left behind after acne, irritation, or skin trauma

Hormonal influences — fluctuations can increase pigment activity in some skin types

Skin inflammation — ongoing irritation can continuously stimulate pigment production

Over-exfoliation or barrier damage — a compromised skin barrier can make pigment harder to control

Incorrect or inconsistent treatment approach — stopping and starting treatments can slow progress

Pigmentation also sits at different depths in the skin, which affects how it responds to treatment, meaning not all pigment can be treated the same way.

This is why a structured, targeted approach is often needed rather than relying on skincare alone.

Understanding what type of pigmentation you’re dealing with is the first step toward improving it long-term. Want to find out your type? Our Dermal Clinician can help during an initial consultation.

A facial isn’t just a facial. Many people assume they need “hydration” or “deep cleansing” as a default, but skin is rarely that simple.

What your skin responds to is influenced by a few key factors:

Your skin barrier function plays a major role. If it’s compromised, you may notice tightness, sensitivity, redness or product intolerance, and in this case, stronger or more active treatments can actually make things worse rather than better.

Inflammation is another driver that often gets overlooked. This can present as persistent redness, reactivity, or breakouts that don’t settle easily. In these cases, the goal is often to calm and support the skin rather than push it.

Congestion and oil flow also change how the skin behaves. What looks like “dullness” or uneven texture may actually be buildup beneath the surface that needs a more targeted approach rather than heavy exfoliation at home.

And then there’s sensitivity vs true sensitivity. Not all “sensitive skin” is the same.

Some skin is naturally reactive, while other skin becomes sensitised due to over-treatment, over-exfoliation, or incorrect product use.

This is why a proper skin assessment matters.

The right facial isn’t chosen randomly, it’s matched to what your skin needs in that moment, with a focus on long-term skin health rather than short-term results.

Because when the cause is understood, the treatment becomes far more effective.
