Celebrating 30 Years of Free Healthcare: Klinik Derma Sivasanta Renews Tenancy with MBPP

Klinik Derma Sivasanta (KDS) extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) officials and councillors for their recent visit to our clinic. On behalf of KDS, we would also like to thank the Mayor (Datuk Bandar) of MBPP, Dato' Ir. Rajendran P. Anthony, for his continuous support and assistance. We are pleased to announce that MBPP has officially renewed our tenancy agreement for another three years, extending it until 31 March 2029.

Klinik Derma Sivasanta is a not-for-profit medical clinic providing free general and specialist healthcare to those in need. Founded by His Holiness Swami Shantanand Saraswati, KDS operates as the charitable welfare arm of the Temple of Fine Arts (TFA). Today, the clinic relies entirely on a dedicated network of volunteer doctors and specialists to serve patients completely free of charge.
* 2000: The Penang branch of Klinik Derma Sivasanta was established at the MBPP premises at No. 11, River Road, George Town, expanding its humanitarian efforts to the northern region.
* 30+ Years of Service: Over the decades, the clinic has expanded its reach far beyond basic primary care, establishing mobile medical camps that have treated thousands of patients.

Justice Delivered: KDS & PHA Outstanding Free Legal Aid Report

The Klinik Derma Sivasanta (TFA) and Penang Hindu Association (PHA) recently conducted an outreach programme to provide free legal consultations for marginalized and low-income groups who cannot afford standard legal fees.

This free Legal Aid Service was held at Klinik Derma Sivasanta at No. 11, River Road, Penang (next to the River Road Tamil School) from January to mid-May 2026. A total of nine sessions were held during this period, with approximately 124 clients consulting our volunteer lawyers regarding their legal matters.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the following lawyers for conducting this Legal Aid Service camp: Mr. K. Thangesvaran, Mr. K.T. Rajah Naidu, Mr. P. Subramanian, Miss Nisha Asogan, Mr. M.U. Kanesan, Miss Shareena Nair, Mr. V.K. Dasaratharaj Pillai, Mrs. Bavani Arunasala, Miss Nishantel Kaur, Mr. M. Kirubanandan, Dato’ A. Tanasegaran, and Ms. Shalani Devi Madawan.

The Legal Aid Service offered advice on family disputes, child protection matters, the drafting of wills, and banking or housing issues.

This initiative was launched because many people in Penang cannot afford standard legal fees, even for basic consultations. Through this service, PHA ensures that the low-income community can access skilled legal professionals and obtain the legal guidance they need.

A small act of kindness can give someone a new way to move forward.

Klinik Derma Sivasanta ((TFA) and Penang Hindu Association did fund raising for a B40 poor senior patient Mr.Thangaraj A/L Perumal age 73, his leg amputated the post right leg below knee due to his illness. He requested for an electric motor wheelchair to help in his daily routine work.

KDS & PHA jointly did a fund raising to purchase the new motor wheelchair from Mr Gopal Krishan
Kidarnath at a discounted price of RM3,000 the original price cost RM6,000. We would like to thank Mr Gopal for his support n help.

We would also to thank KEITEQ DIRECT SDN. BHD. and Mr. S.C Wong for thier contribution and support to purchase the motor wheelchair for Mr Thangaraj bringing comfort, dignity, and a chance to live with independence.
