We spend so much time focusing on what needs to get done that we rarely stop to ask ourselves what we truly want.

When we take a moment to reflect, we often begin to notice what's possible.

The answer might not change your life today, but it might change the direction you're heading. 🌱

One of the greatest compliments I can receive is when a client recommends me to someone they care about.

Whether it's a friend, partner, parent, or sibling, it means so much that they'd trust me with someone important in their life.

Recently, I had the privilege of creating a gift voucher for someone's milestone birthday, and it genuinely made me smile. It was a beautiful reminder that it's never too late to invest in your wellbeing or experience clinical hypnotherapy for the first time.

It also reminded me how meaningful it can be to give an experience rather than another "thing"—something that offers time to pause, reflect, and invest in wellbeing.

Thank you to every client who has shared my name, left a kind review, purchased a gift voucher for someone special, or recommended Peak Hypnotherapy.

Your trust means more than you know.

Why can change feel so hard?

Our brains are naturally wired to favour what's familiar.

Not because we're incapable of change, but because familiar patterns require less effort. They've been practised over and over again, allowing our brains to become incredibly efficient at following those well-worn pathways.

That's why change can feel hard and uncomfortable at first—even when it's a change for the better. Anything new is unfamiliar, and what feels unfamiliar often requires more attention, energy, and persistence.

The encouraging news is that our brains remain capable of change throughout life.

Every time we repeat a healthier thought, behaviour, or habit, we're helping to strengthen the neural pathways that support it. With time and repetition, what once felt difficult can become the new familiar.

This is one of the reasons I find the science of behaviour change so fascinating. While awareness is where change begins, many of our habits and behaviours are driven by automatic processes outside of our conscious awareness. Clinical hypnotherapy can help support change by working with these automatic patterns alongside conscious effort.

Making the most of this beautiful Sunday with my neuroscience notes and a little time to slow down. 🌿📖

One of the things I discuss with clients is how our minds naturally return to familiar patterns.

One of the biggest realisations from my neuroscience studies has been that some of the unhelpful study habits I developed in my teens and early twenties were all too eager to reappear when I started this course. 😅 It's a reminder that our brains naturally default to what's familiar—but with awareness, intention, and consistent practice, we can develop healthier habits and strengthen new neural pathways.

Lasting change rarely comes from one big moment. It grows from the small choices we make, repeated over time.

For me, Sundays have become part of that healthier routine—a chance to slow down, learn, reflect, and reset before the week ahead.

As the longer, warmer days return and new growth begins to appear, it feels as though nature gently reminds us that growth often begins with the smallest of changes.

Is it just me, or does change feel a little easier as spring approaches? 🌱🌸

Most of us already use nervous system regulators without even realising it. The difference is bringing a little intention to them.

Here are a few simple ways to show your nervous system a little kindness today:

🎵 Hum or sing your favourite song.

🌬️ Take a deep sigh or a few slow breaths.

🤸 Stretch your body.

🚶 Go for a walk or spend a few minutes in nature.

☀️ Spend a few minutes in the morning sunshine.

😂 Laugh.

🐾 Pat your dog, cat or another beloved pet.

🤝 Connect with someone who helps you feel safe.

🙏 Pause to notice one thing you're grateful for.

These aren't about eliminating stress. They're simple ways to remind your nervous system that you're safe, supported and in the present moment.

Even one small moment of regulation can make a difference.

As a clinical hypnotherapist, I spend a lot of time supporting clients to better understand and work with their nervous system. These simple practices can be a gentle place to start.

Which one will you choose today?

Earlier this week, I took my horses to the beach for the first time in far too long.

As we stood watching the waves, I noticed a familiar thought...

"I should have done this sooner."

It reminded me how easily our minds drift into the past or race ahead into the future. We replay conversations, carry guilt, anticipate problems and hold ourselves to impossible standards.

Whether it's trying to be the perfect parent, partner or friend, or simply feeling as though we should be doing more, our thoughts can quietly shape the way we experience the present moment.

This is something I often explore with clients. Not because these thoughts are unusual, but because they're part of being human. Our minds can become well practised at certain ways of thinking, and those familiar patterns can quietly appear... even in life's most peaceful moments.

The encouraging part is that these patterns can change. As awareness grows, new possibilities begin to emerge.

Where do your thoughts spend most of their time... in the past, in the future, or here in the present moment?

Have you forgotten what peace feels like?

Not the kind that comes from a holiday...
A massage...
Or a quiet weekend away.

I mean the kind of peace that comes from within.

Where your mind isn't racing.

Your body isn't carrying tension you didn't even realise you were holding.

Where you no longer feel like you need to stay one step ahead of everything.

For many people, living with ongoing stress or anxiety becomes so familiar that it starts to feel normal.

But "normal" doesn't always mean healthy.

Your nervous system can change. It can learn that it's safe to let go, slow down, and experience genuine peace again.

Perhaps today is simply an invitation to pause and ask yourself...

Have I forgotten what peace feels like?

Life can be busy... and if you're anything like me, it's all too easy to keep adding to the list! 😅

I've found that the busier life gets, the more intentional I need to be about creating moments to pause.

This week, that has meant leaving my phone on silent, spending time with my horses, enjoying moments of connection and simply slowing down for a little while.

Those small moments have left me with more energy, greater focus and a calmer mind.

🌿 Sometimes, a few minutes is all it takes to reset.

🧠 Your brain is shaped by what you repeatedly think, feel and do.

Every thought, emotion and action helps strengthen the neural pathways your brain uses most often.

The more often those pathways are used, the stronger they become.

The encouraging news is that your brain has an incredible ability to adapt and change throughout life. This is called neuroplasticity.

It means that change is possible.

Whether you're learning to manage anxiety, build confidence, let go of unhelpful habits or create healthier ones, every small step helps strengthen new pathways.

The pathways you strengthen today can shape the way you think, feel and respond tomorrow.
