If pop culture can’t explain my job, I’m officially out of options.

Using memes to explain ABA, early intervention and toilet skill development because “I work in behaviour analysis” tells people approximately nothing.

A little look at what we protect behind the scenes at Super Kids 👀

We spend paid hours talking to each other instead of billing clients.

We keep caseloads manageable.

We make time for peer supervision, Lunch & Learns, training, programming and actually thinking about the work.

We celebrate the small stuff. We shut the clinic annually for Louis Day. We sometimes spend an unreasonable amount of time discussing one tiny clinical problem.

Could we squeeze more billable hours into the week? Absolutely.

But I didn’t start Super Kids to maximise every possible billable hour.

I wanted to build somewhere good clinicians could do good work, keep learning, ask for help, have a life outside of work and actually want to stay.

Not all good business decisions show up as more billable hours.

Please don’t send this to my accountant. 😂

🚽 Thinking about toilet training but not sure where to start?

Before the un**es. Before the rewards. Before spending your entire day asking, “Do you need to do a wee?” 😅

Join Renee Collins for a practical Toilet Training: Introduction & Preparation Webinar on Wednesday 26 August, evening.

We’ll cover how to set your child up for success, including:
✨ what to think about before you start
✨ common myths about “readiness”
✨ understanding your child’s current toilet skills
✨ preparing the environment
✨ wee and poo patterns (and why they matter!)
✨ choosing an approach that fits your child and family
✨ what to do when things aren’t quite going to plan

Designed for parents and carers who are thinking about starting, preparing to start, or wondering whether they’re on the right track.

No perfect “readiness signs” required. No pressure. Just practical, evidence-informed support to help you know what to do next.

Wednesday 26 August, With Renee Collins, BCBA, BSP, DE, online.
Save your spot & send this to a parent who is currently deep in the “where do we even start?” phase.

I’m not pretending burnout in ABA isn’t real. It is.

And I’m not saying everyone should stay in early intervention forever. Careers change. People change. Different roles fit different seasons.

But I do think we sometimes talk about direct clinical work as though it’s something you’re meant to eventually graduate from.

And I don’t love that.

I still love early intervention. I still love working directly with children and families. I still get excited about good assessment, solving tricky problems, tiny bits of progress, and learning how to do this work better.

More than 15 years in, I’m still proud to say it:

I’m a behaviour analyst.

And I know plenty of brilliant clinicians who feel the same.

The barrier isn’t always the direct work itself. Sometimes it’s funding pressure, unrealistic caseloads, poor supervision, limited time to think, or not yet finding the part of the science that feels sustainable and meaningful for you long term.

Because there are so many ways to build a career in applied behaviour analysis.

Early intervention. Nutrition. Healthcare access. Supervision. Training. Research. Education. Organisational behaviour. And plenty more.

You don’t necessarily have to move on from ABA.

You might just need the space, support and opportunity to keep growing within it.

Maybe the bigger question is how we build ABA careers & workplaces that people are proud to stay in. ❤️

Join us and Brandon Franklin to discuss this important topic 👏

For many autistic children, teens and adults, a routine medical or dental appointment is anything but routine. Unfamiliar rooms, sensory overload and unpredictable demands can turn a simple check-up into real distress.

That’s because going to and through a healthcare appointment isn't just one skill. It's many, many smaller ones, like going to a new building, waiting your turn, sitting in a chair, answering questions, having your blood pressure taken, or opening your mouth for a dental check.

This month, our free webinar is all about how to build these skills well before appointment day (not during it!).

Join AAA CEO Nicole Rogerson, and international guest, board-certified behaviour analyst Brandon M. Franklin as they break healthcare visits down into practical, step-by-step skills, so you know exactly where to start, whatever your autistic child, teenager or adult's age or support need.

What you'll learn
1. Find your starting point: identify essential healthcare skills vs. nice-to-haves
2. Step-by-step prep: how to practise for blood draws, physical exams and dental care safely at home
3. Real video demonstrations: case studies across different support needs
4. Clinic adjustments: exactly what accommodations to request from the doctor or dentist
5. Live Q&A: we’re extending our usual webinar to an hour so we can answer questions live, in real time.
6. Takeaway toolkit: supporting materials and the full recording, sent after the webinar

Event details
WHEN: Thursday 20 August 2026, 12:00pm to 1:00pm AEST
WHERE: Online via Zoom
COST: Free (includes live Q&A)
INCLUDES: Full recording and takeaway toolkit sent to all registrants

Your child loves jumping? Spinning? Running? Climbing? Crashing into cushions approximately 47 times in a row?

Perfect. Start there.

We don’t always need to introduce new play to build new skills. Sometimes we can take the movement a child already loves and make one tiny change.

Love jumping? → Jump to different spots, copy a jump, or take turns.

Love running? → Ready, set… GO! Add stopping, waiting, chasing or changing direction.

Love crashing? → Build a cushion pile together, choose where to land, or add “1, 2, 3… CRASH!”

Love spinning? → Spin together, pause for “more?”, or add a silly action when you stop.

Same motivation.
Same connection.
Same kind of play they already enjoy.

Just one small variation that creates another opportunity to communicate, connect, notice someone else, solve a problem or learn something new.

You don’t need to turn play into a lesson.

Join what they already love, then gently expand it.

Same play. New way. 💛
