How your email finds me this weekend… 🐕‍🦺🌾

Somewhere between the cattle yards, the paddock and the side-by-side, with a Kelpie running alongside and absolutely zero interest in checking my inbox. 😂

We’ve got a big weekend of cattle work ahead — lots of moving, sorting, riding around and getting stuck in.

So if you’ve emailed me and I’m a little slow to reply…

This is where your email finds me. 🤠🐄

I’ll be back at the keyboard eventually. Probably covered in dust. 😂

💛 It’s probably time I introduced myself again…

Because apparently, the last time I properly told you who I am was 2023. 😂

Three and a half years ago, I made a post saying “it’s finally time to put a face to a name” and introduced myself as the founder and director of With A Little Care.

Well… a LOT has happened since then.

So, if you’re new around here, or you’ve been following along for years and realised you actually know very little about the person behind the business — hi. I’m Shauna. 👋🏼

I’m the founder and director of With A Little Care, a disability support business that started from a pretty simple idea: I wanted to provide support that actually felt like real life.

I didn’t come from a traditional health or disability services background.

My background prior to being in business, was agriculture and automotive. 😂

I grew up around rural life, spent my late teens working on agricultural properties across Queensland, the Northern Territory and Victoria, and I’ve had horses for over a decade.

I’ve always been much more comfortable in a paddock than an office, which probably explains a lot about where With A Little Care has ended up. 🤠

I got into support work around 2019/2020 after completing my qualifications during isolation, and I very quickly realised I had found something I genuinely loved.

I loved the people.

I loved the relationships.

I loved seeing someone achieve something they’d been working towards, even if it looked completely ordinary to somebody else.

And, perhaps most importantly, I realised that good support isn’t about ticking boxes.

It’s about knowing the person.

Knowing what matters to them.

Knowing their routines, their goals, their family, their quirks, their strengths and sometimes even knowing when they’re having a s**t day before they’ve said a word. 😂

That little idea turned into With A Little Care in 2021.

And what started as a very small business has grown into something I’m incredibly proud of.

Today, our clients and team are spread across a massive chunk of Queensland — from the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Moreton Bay, through Toowoomba and Kingaroy, right across Central Queensland to Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald and Longreach.

And yes… I really do drive all over the bloody place. 😂

If you’ve seen the caravan floating around lately, that’s actually a pretty big part of how I make it work.

I’m incredibly lucky to be in a position where I can pack up my caravan, take my office on the road and go and see the people who matter to this business.

I still make a point of meeting our clients and their families in person wherever I can.

I still want to know what their real life looks like.

I still want to know what their goals are, what isn’t working, what is working, and what we can do better.

Because even as the business has grown, that part hasn’t changed.

And neither has my belief that our people are our greatest asset.

I am ridiculously proud of the team we’ve built.

People who show up.
People who care.
People who advocate.

People who become trusted faces in someone’s life rather than just another support worker walking through the door.

That’s what I wanted With A Little Care to be when I started it.

And three and a half years after that last introduction post, I reckon we’re getting pretty bloody close. 💛

There have been some massive highs, some enormous challenges, a few questionable business decisions 😂, a ridiculous amount of kilometres travelled, plenty of late nights, a LOT of learning and more growth than I could have imagined.

And somewhere amongst all of that, I’ve grown too.

I’m still the girl in the cowboy hat who would rather be around horses, dogs and cattle than sitting behind a desk.

I’m still completely passionate about rural and regional communities.

I’m still obsessed with finding ways to make support work better for the people actually receiving it.

And I’m still building this business around one very simple belief:

Support should fit real life.

So if you’re new here - welcome. 🫶🏼

If you’ve been here since 2021 - bloody hell, thank you. 😂

And if you’ve been quietly following along for the last few years wondering who the heck is behind all of this… well, now you know a little bit more about me.

I’m Shauna.

Founder. Director. Rural girl. Horse lover. Business owner. Mum. Professional overthinker. Occasional caravan office worker. 😂

And I’m still just getting started. 💛

We get asked ALL the time how we manage to support clients and meet with our team when we’re spread from the Gold Coast to Rocky, Toowoomba, Kingaroy, Emerald and Longreach… 😅

Well… insert one bloody big caravan. 😂

I’m incredibly lucky to be in a position where I can pack up the caravan, hit the road and actually take my office with me.

It means I can spend proper time with our clients, catch up with our team face-to-face and be where I need to be — without being tied to one little patch of Queensland.

A little bit unconventional? Absolutely.
A little bit ridiculous? Probably. 😂
But it works. And I bloody love it. 💛

Rural support requires rural solutions. 🚐✨

DAY 27 STUCK ON THE FARM. 🚗🫠🌾

And the plot twist? The tyres are fine… they literally just haven’t arrived in town yet. 😂

So here we are. Still two flat tyres. Still no ute. Still very much stuck.

Thankfully, I have the BEST neighbours who keep rescuing me by bringing groceries from town, because apparently I’ve now reached the stage where I need a rural Uber Eats service. 😂🛒

But honestly, being stuck here for 27 days has meant I’ve gotten SO much done. Jobs I’ve been putting off, farm jobs, house jobs, business stuff, organising, cleaning, cooking… you name it.

At this point I’m not even sure what I’ll do when the ute finally gets fixed.

Probably leave the farm and immediately miss it. 😂

27 days down. Waiting patiently for those bloody tyres. 🫠

We have officially reached the “use your shirt as an egg basket” stage. 😂🥚🐓

Started with a few chooks.

Now I apparently have an egg production facility and absolutely no infrastructure to support it. 😂

Egg carton? Full.
Bench? Full.
Fridge? Questionable.
Hands? Full.
Shirt? Apparently the next logical storage solution.

At this point the chookies are producing faster than I can eat, sell or give them away.

Chook math has consequences. 🐔🥚😂

The last sunset of winter. 🌅🐄

One last golden goodbye to the cold mornings, crisp evenings and cosy winter days — with the cows casually wandering through the foreground, as they do. 🤎

Winter, you were pretty bloody beautiful.

Hello spring. 🌾🌅

Day 25 stuck on the farm. 🌾

I’ve gotten SO much done… and somehow being here 24/7 has only made me realise just how much there is still to do. 😂

Turns out, when you don’t leave the farm, you find a lot of farm jobs. 🫠
