Owning a clinic was a long-held dream for Alan, and after Lynne gained seven years of industry experience, it became her dream as well. Together, they decided to forgo retirement and open The Hearing Centre Gladstone, a proudly locally owned and operated full-time clinic. Establishing the clinic presented significant challenges, but the unwavering support of local businesses and the community made their dream a reality. If you’re eligible for hearing services through the Australian Government’s Hearing Services Program (HSP), you may be able to access subsidised hearing assessments, hearing devices and ongoing support.

At The Hearing Centre, we provide HSP services and can help eligible clients understand what support is available and guide them through the process.

Good hearing is about much more than hearing sounds. It helps you stay part of conversations, maintain connections with family and friends and continue enjoying the everyday things that matter to you.

We managed to get Alan to stand still long enough for a photo... although judging by the expression, he’s still deciding how he feels about it. 😂

Usually you’ll find Alan on the other side of things at The Hearing Centre, talking with clients, looking at test results and helping people better understand their hearing.

This time, we turned the attention on him.

With the sound-treated room behind him, the ear diagram on the wall and the screens ready to go, this is very much Alan in his natural habitat.

After years of working in hearing care, there probably isn’t much about ears that Alan hasn’t seen, heard or been asked about.

Although getting him to smile for the camera might still be one of our more difficult assessments. 😄

This Sunday is all about celebrating the dads, grandads and father figures who are always there with advice, a story to tell... and occasionally the claim that “there’s nothing wrong with my hearing!” 😄

Sometimes the signs that a child isn’t hearing clearly aren’t always obvious.

They might be asking for things to be repeated, turning the TV up, struggling to follow conversations, seeming distracted in the classroom or finding it harder to understand instructions, particularly when there’s background noise.

At The Hearing Centre, we provide Child Audiological Assessments for children aged 6 years and over, helping parents better understand how their child is hearing and identify any areas that may need further attention.

A comprehensive hearing assessment can provide valuable information about a child’s hearing and help determine the appropriate next steps if a concern is identified.

There’s a lot that happens behind the scenes to make sure your hearing aids are working exactly as they should.

Here’s Alan, doing what he does best.

Hearing aids are small pieces of technology doing a pretty important job, and like anything you rely on every day, they need a little care and attention from time to time.

Cleaning, checking, servicing and making those small adjustments can make a real difference to how they perform and, more importantly, how well you’re hearing.

And when Alan gets focused like this, we generally leave him to it! 😄

Thousands of feet were pounding the pavement around Gladstone on Sunday for the annual Port to Park Fun Run, and what a great morning it was for our community.

We snapped this photo at the start with Curtis the Turtle, but being The Hearing Centre, we couldn’t help noticing something…

No matter what we asked Curtis, we couldn’t get a response.

For a moment we thought his hearing might need checking. Turns out his hearing is probably just fine. He’s a turtle. He doesn’t talk. 😂

We’ll stick to looking after the hearing of Gladstone locals and leave Curtis to doing what he does best!
